I really am never done thinking about and analyzing an episode once it has come to an end! These are all really great observations and I have too considered the idea of being able to see her once you have summoned her in the past. Although in the hotel room scene, Sister Jude was not able to see her even though she has summoned her in the past. I really like the idea of Briarcliff being hell as well. Why else would Sister Mary be "put in charge" just as the Devil himself possesses her? Even though this would be a great twist...I don't actually see it happening.

Last night’s episode was good, but not perfect. I really loved seeing Frances Conroy back on the show, and I loved the way she portrayed the angel of death. My coworkers at DISH and I loved how eerily soft spoken she was as well; it added to the creepiness of her character. I’ve recorded the first season and I’m recording the second season to my DISH Hopper so I can have an American Horror Story marathon after this season’s finale. It has over 400 hours of HD recording time available so I can record all my favorite shows (like American Horror Story) to watch when I want, and still have plenty of space available. I’m excited to see Ian McShane next week, but I wish they would start answering questions about things like: the aliens, Dr. Arden’s Nazi past, and the zombies in the woods.

I did wonder this myself. Just to theorize here, because I am not a writer for AHS, no matter how much I would really, really, REALLY like to be. It seems that you may be able to see her if you have called upon her, or summoned her, before. But this still doesn't explain why Lana saw her in the car unless it wasn't clear who was going to die until the man decided at the last second. Maybe she came because there was going to be death. There's also the fact that Sister Jude seemed to sense the angel when she was calling an ambulance as Mr. Goodman died.

The angel said she came when she was called. But I loved the fact that she also gave them choices.

I really like the idea of Briarcliff being symbolic of hell. It is hell for the inhabitants, of that I'm sure. But is it more a metaphorical hell, for each individual to endure, or the spiritual type? After I did the write up and it was posted, I saw some more things I could've elaborated on, but that is always the case. With a show as complex and full of multiple themes, plot twists, story arcs and character arcs as AHS, you're never really done trying to analyze its goodness, are you?

So this has been driving me crazy. Can't you only see the Angel of Death if she is in fact "coming" for you? In the car scene, Lana was able to see the Angel of Death when she was not coming for her after all. Why could Lana see her? Could Lana of actually died in the car accident and awoke in hell (Briarcliff)???
