Radio by Ayria helps me when long-standing friendships end in a messy manner.
Helena by MCR helped me after my mom died. Everything Dies by ToN helped at that time too. It just depends on the circumstance and what I'm listening to at the time. |
That's Youth by Anti-Flag, as it reminds me that it was all worth it, none of it wasted.

That's Life by Frank Sinatra is an obvious favorite.
Also, when the rough patch is because of a woman, No One To Cry To by Ray Charles should depress me, but it just makes me think and I feel better afterward. |
Ennio Morricone - "The Cool Mule"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOE6a...eature=related It's a tune that I like having stuck in my head, especally at the firing line, squaring up with the target and point shooting (I've really been thinking about picking up a Ruger Vaquero in .357 Mag for the past few months). |

I wanna piss on you - GG allin

Well, as of now I have been listening to "Bananamontana" by Motionless in White quite a lot. This song has actually brought me to tears at times. The title sucks, I know, but it really has nothing to do with the content, or lyrics of the track.
Bananamontana - Motionless in White : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ve_ONPX1reY |
Usually classical music. That and the more melancholy songs on the soundtrack for the Tanz Der Vampire musical.
|
When I'm hungover or feeling a little delicate, soft jazz or ambient music. Depressed - blues (obviously) or something ugly, like The Fall. The song "The Weight" by The Band is a beautiful, desolate folk tale that came to mean a lot to me around the time my dad died, and I still find it bizarrely comforting on a weepy drunken night. Devo can usually raise a smile if I feel like cheering it up a little.
|
CCR - Fortunate Son.
BB king - Woke up this morning. Crystal Castles - Love and Caring. Willie Dixon - Spoonful. Aretha Franklin - Respect. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust. James Brown - Get Up. The Doors - Light my Fire. Booker T and the MGs - Green Onions. Sonic Youth - Mote. War - Lowrider. Yep, pretty much it. |
Songs: Ohia - Ghost Tropic
|
The one I've been listening to a lot this past week.. Accidents Can Happen, SixxAM.

Come on by Christine Anu. and coz i'm free by Christine Anu. |
A Warm Place. Been doing it for just about 16 years now. The only NIN song that makes me feel 'good', and cheers me up more than just about any other piece of music.
|
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence
The Cure's Just Like Heaven always works for me, too. |
A small playlist always gets me through--
The Damned--Smash it Up. Hell yes. Blue Oyster Cult--Burnin' for You. Yes, yes indeed. Men Without Hats--Safety Dance. It really IS a Safety Dance.... The GAP Band--Oops, Upside Your Head LED Zeppellin--Rock 'N' Roll MGMT--Electric Feel(which you already know, of course) Aha--Take On Me Christian Death--Romeo's Distress And alot of House Of Hair, Dee Snider bullshit. That makes me feel good. Nothing like Leppard to smack you up out of a depression. And Kickstart My Heart--Motley Crue, will do the trick for sure. |
I've found listening to Flying Testicle benefical.
(Johnny Guitar, Romance). |
