Beauty is Society's Whore

Truth is beauty
and beauty truth.

Why are you laughing?
You’re soft as a cloud
but your eyes are black, their spiked stare
so ironic.

I cannot hang my dreams
on such ordinary cheekbones.
Don’t you mind the overcast days
or the dim afternoons;
scrub them away with peach stones
and pelt them with bubbles.

Truth is beauty
and beauty a myth;
this is the flat glossy fact of the matter.

Each of us experience wow gold setbacks in life, all wow power

of which provide wow power leveling us with valuable lessons about the human condition. It is not the setback

itself that influences your future, but rather how to react to the negative situation. You’ve heard the adage wow power leveling

many times about turning lemons into lemonade, right? Well, this sentiment is absolutely true and can tremendously wow

I like it. Shades of the Beats at times.

Clarification required, though: I'm guessing "pelt them with bubbles" is about the futility of a life in which beauty is used in an attempt to avoid everydayness (??), but what does the peach stones line mean?

Yes, you're basically right. It's about the losing battle I see all the girls around me trying to fight - "oh, if I make myself pretty / lose a bit of weight then everything will be okay." Um, no it won't. The pretty girl with the black spiky eyelashes knows that, which is why she's laughing at them.

The peach stones line is a reference to all the exfoliating products that contain extracts of peach or apricot. I have no idea why those particular fruits are so popular among people who want to slough away dead skin to expose the bright complexion that the makers of these products assure us is underneath.

You are a poet. That is not a term I throw around lightly. It is deserved.

I liked it too, although it made me realize that in my admiration of beautiful things (and people), that in some cases beauty is not truth, but mere whitewash.
