Informal introduction

Well It all started with a mixed tape that a girl gave me. I did not know the names of the bands. But loved the music.
I loved the Addams family to.
probably a clue.
I'm not the Gothiest Goth ever. I do not aspire to be. I don't want to freak the mundanes ( and yet somehow I do anyway). I just want to do my thing and be left alone.
I don't really care if you call me goth at all.
Drifted away for a while, now I'm back.
All my black clothes are moth eaten or worn so thin that they are falling apart. I am starting over with that.
I trip over stacks of books because I am out of shelf space. every one needs multiple copy's of Dracula and H.P. Lovecraft.

More later if you want to hear about it.

Glad to be here though.

Hmmm, sounds just like my place! Greetings and welcome LaughingGoth. Any HP Lovecraft afficionado is a friend of mine.

Oh for sure, I hear you!
I'm not the Gothiest of Goths either .. I'm no Black Friday.
I like that look/style on others. Black hair, porcelain white make up etc ..
Used to have really long straight black hair, ah but 1 too many Pocahontas jokes served by loutish drunk lads made me cringe o.O
Not really sure what my style is?
Dash of vintage, dollop of Victorian.
Pinch of punk, a little metal and a sprinkling of bohemian?

Anyway, I like that you've mentioned this .. irks me when 'Super Goths' judge!

Really nice to have you join us <3 Welcome!

@laughing goth ...hey so I would not worry about the dogma, its just that, labels are for losers. It is a subculture for a reason. Let me know if you need any new mix tapes.
I wish we could hang out and have a clothing swap. I need some new clothes also. Do you write or just collect books?

You still have cassette Tapes ?
I Thought I was the last person with a tape player.
But if you have a play list in mind I would love to hear it.

Clothing swap sounds like fun, But I fear you would be disappointed all my stuff is zombie rags at this point, except the Polo and Tommy Hilfiger stuff that I get for Christmas and birthdays because my parents still hope that some day they will wake up and I will be normal.

I collect book's and I do some writing but I never finish anything.
But I do love to sit and wright, this leads to people interrupting me because I;m not doing anything.
I'm writing...
anything important. Now...

hahaha I like to wear a black polo sometimes messes with some 'basics' there hahah

No this is more bright colored preppy cloths. My Father has sort of a dress code you had better live up to.
Also the stuff you never wear does not wear out. It just piles up in the closet.

KeineModalen 11-26-2015 07:16 PM

That sounds dreadful LG.
My pee and em were hippies, I just couldnt ever dye my hair.
You could always just get some dye and fix.

Its not that easy, He's right wing republican military so his idea of how you will dress is rather rigid.
We used to get into lot's of fights about it when I was young. But after my parents divorced it became less of a issue.
At this point I only have to contend with his Idea's when I have to go see him.
Its like dressing up, just normal.

I enjoy cosplay, but they're characters that I like and am drawn to ..
It sucks that your own version is rather enforced and a chore for you.
Isn't it weird how adults impress such issues. Dress this in this manner and you show your respect for me. Ah but were is your respect? o.O
You are not his 'mini-me' .. you are You!
I find it sad that your Father impresses this upon you, but I'm mindful of the fact that he is himself influenced by tradition and society norms. I don't think he's a 'bad guy', but rather he has certain structures that he himself conforms to and expects others to follow suit .. especially his children.
I don't know if he realizes that the whole 'clothes maketh the man' concept is historically apt, but not so much a modern issue.

Try to compromise? Find a 'happy medium' of darker hues?
Grays, deep burgundy .. colours that perhaps comfort you but in labeled garments that can potentially appease him?
