In the Loop / The Thick of It

Talk about how Thick of It is currently the best show on television, how James Gandolfini actually ceased to evoke any thought of Tony Soprano in Loop, and why Malcolm Tucker is strangely attractive.

I've been watching the new series. I've not been too sure about it but the last episode at the party conference was definitely a high point. For once the characters seemed to have a bit of direction rather than just reacting to those around them.

I can't get it here in Luxembourg. This pisses me off a bit since It's the only program I ever considered watching on telly.

GothCloth 11-17-2009 07:11 AM

That's a shame. Are you blocked from the BBC iplayer as well? No sure if it's UK only. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search/...hick%20of%20it

Still Jack 11-17-2009 07:16 AM

Yeah, that's blocked too.

All Shall Be Judged 11-17-2009 07:31 AM

There are quite a few episodes on TV Shack, including episode 3 of the new series, which was bloody hilarious.

vindicatedxjin 11-17-2009 07:47 AM

Malcolm Tucker...attractive???

All Shall Be Judged 11-17-2009 08:12 AM

I don't know what it is. He's deeply unpleasant and physically unappealing, yet for some reason, I would.

vindicatedxjin 11-17-2009 08:14 AM

I think it's mostly his personality, for some reason I find his sarcastic demeanor very appealing.

All Shall Be Judged 11-17-2009 08:17 AM

Anyone who can hold together a furious, terrifying, vein-throbbing tirade with such an impressive level of eloquence and such hilarious insults deserves a congratulatory screw. It's only fair.

vindicatedxjin 11-17-2009 08:20 AM

Hahahha! Well I don't know about a screw, but if both parties were willing then I suppose that works...I'm pretty for sure he has his share of people wanting to fuck him...different strokes for different folks. ^_^

All Shall Be Judged 11-17-2009 08:35 AM

I'd want him to insult me as he rammed it in. It'd probably be disappointing otherwise.

vindicatedxjin 11-17-2009 08:42 AM

Mental picture, mental picture, oh boy.

skoteinh 11-17-2009 09:32 AM

I've only seen the film, 'In the Loop', and I loved it. I laughed my heart out! Whoever does the script must be a very intelligent person, to come up with swearwords and phrases such as these!

We don't get the TV series here unfortunately : (

All Shall Be Judged I understand what you're saying, although I wouldn't.

vindicatedxjin 11-17-2009 09:35 AM

Lol...MENTAL PICTURE!!!!

JCC 11-21-2009 08:17 AM

Armando Ianucci is God.

Apathy's_Child 11-22-2009 04:26 AM

Armando Iannucci's the guy who did I'm Alan Partridge, right? That was pretty awesome.

Hmm, must check out In the Loop.

JCC 11-22-2009 04:30 AM

'I'm Alan Partridge' was one of those rare instances where pure and unadulterated comedy genius is given physical form.

Apathy's_Child 11-22-2009 04:32 AM

So goddamn quotable. He's one of those genius characters you despise, yet can't help but see a little of yourself in sometimes. And the little touches & characters, like Michael and his blatant Gulf War Syndrome, are so brilliantly done it makes me want to bang one out just thinking about it.
