New Art Thread
We had this before the great cleaning... I searched for it, but didn't find it.
Anyway, post your art here. I will start by posting some of mine, as requested, in the next post. |
Brrr I don't like Picasa.
I'll just post the whole album... http://picasaweb.google.com/laurel.leaves/Art# |
very beautiful work dame, I wish I could have continued with my art.
|
Why can't you?
|
I left it for two years and now I have no time for it, my parents want me to be multitalented so within those two years I studied theater and now I am taking piano lessons and learning german.
|
What do you want most?
|
I am a hypocite, and I dont know what I want thats why its to hard for me to think straight.
|
La Belle, those are very nice. I like your versatility. I can't quite tell from the scans, what media do you prefer besides pencil drawing?
Also, if you haven't yet, please have a look in the "Dark Arts" section of the community area to see some of the other members' artwork. |
Oh! I didn't know there was a Dark Arts section >.< Shows how much I go to the front page...
Most of the ones that look like pencil are actually lithographic prints. I mainly use pencil for sketches and preparatory drawings. My favourite is oil paint, which most of the paintings are. The one of the gargoyle is acrylic. Oil feels better, though, and I like that it forces me to put it away for at least a couple days. I also use pen and ink, and I've recently gotten into illumination and gold leaf. I'm planning on doing some oil-on-gold-leaf paintings, including one of a figure with raised gesso under the gold leaf. Some may call me "versatile," I call myself "scatter-brained." :P Edit: Wait... Where is this Dark Arts thing? |
You may or may not be scatter-brained, but you're definitely versatile when it comes to art. I've never done a lithograph, though I've seen some amazing ones. I do enjoy wood-cut and linoleum printmaking though. Sadly, I've only ever done one oil painting, though I've done many acrylic paintings. I need to give oil painting another try; I know that is has many advantages, and it's much "cooler". My personal favourite media are pen & ink and watercolour with pen & ink.
Anyway, the "Dark Arts" group can be found in the community section. You can see some of my artwork there if you're interested. There aren't very many contributors so far, but there's definitely some good content. |
Go to Community then Social Groups. I didn't know about it either! The functions of Gnet I never use anymore.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and it seems to have a great and friendly atmosphere. We (me and my best friend) own an online shop on etsy.com showing/selling our creations.

Not a fan of the druggie subject matter, though. I find there's something odd about them, like they have a lot of sharp edges, or something. Some of his compositional ideas bug me too. I figured it out: they look like photographs, rather than paintings. Singer-Sargent was a genius at edges. http://elrtravel.com/blog/wp-content...ish_dancer.jpg Observe how the edges make things recede and pop out: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4144/...af0457ed44.jpg |

Belle, that is beautiful. I wish I was that skilled.

Jin: The Spanish dancer is not mine. It's by John Singer-Sargent. I was using it to demonstrate his use of edges to create shape and depth. It's particularly obvious on her dress.
Sharp and high-contrast edges make things pop out, soft and lost edges make things recede. Use too many of either, and the painting will suffer. |
Lol I knew it wasn't yours, I was just stating the fact that I wish I was that talented :D
|
Ahh. Ok. I also wish I was as talented as Sargent :P.
|
Belle those are fucking awesome! :D Lady Macbeth in particular :)
I really need to get painting again! In the meantime: http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...2/DSCF4531.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...2/DSCF5369.jpg |
