glitter?
okay, Iv been thinking about glitter. does anyone else wear glitter? like anywhere? body glitter? eyeshadow? accents for makeup? anyway, yeah. tellme about your glitter!!!
|
I think a little bit of glitter is alright. I have a lovely glittery purple eyeshadow that is gorgeous & I think a sprinkle of silver can look great.
As long as you don't go mad with the rainbow sparkles you can obtain a lovely effect. |
yeah. rainbow sprinkles kinda make me scared. lol. I think really fine, power-type glitter is pretty too, lol.
|
Sparkly silver eyeshadow is also rather lovely. As is sparkly black. Glitter isn't as bad as people make out.
|
lol, most people think of glitter as bright pink/blue/green stuff that people wear to raves and stuff, lol.
|
Well here's a prime example of when glitter can be bad...

awww man, I wore that outfit today...:(.........
|
It really depends on where you're wearing the glitter. If you're going out and wearing some flowy fairy top and want to accent it with fairy glitter eye makeup, I can be ok with that. If you're in the 8th grade and wear it on your eyes, your cheekbones, and your lips, I'm not ok with that.

I know someone who is terrified of that suit. She finds it very traumatic to even mention it :D
|
lol, tell her I wore it...out in public.
yeah, little girls like glitter a little TOO much. I used to wear purple eye glitter in 7th grade. And i also wore leg-warmers and a cloak. I was a strange, strange child. |
I used to wear pink glitter all over my face & orange glitter nail varnish.
Don't know what I was thinking. |
I must admit, I too was guilty of too much glitter. It was all over my face, and then for a while I put it all over my arms and upper chest...
It was awful. That's why I caution against it; this is the voice of experience, kids. |
Glitter body spray should be banned...it can be addictive...
|
I was once a HUGE fan of what is known as "diamond dust" (opalescent glitter powder). I wore it every day almost.
When used well, it can give you an ethereal fairy-like sparkliness (like you have a visible aura). However, when misused it can be quite the disaster. |
blackbutterfly: Iv never seen that stuff before, where can you get it? I wanna look like a FAIRY!!! i collect fairies.
|
Kitten-- slightly off topic, but if you love fairies, have you heard of Amy Brown? I recently purchased this wall tile:

When I was in the 7th Grade, I used to splash pink glitter on my cheeks every day during school. I thought I was cool for doing that....
Today, I use purple, light pink, and light blue glitter for my eyes. I also have a silver one, but for my lips. I use an indigo opalescent one mostly; it's from Manic Panic. They have endless supply of glitters and different types, depending where and how you want to wear them. Urban Decay also sells Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner, which is a wonderful product. I have Air Guitar (light blue) and Pyrotechnics (glittery white). They will not slick or fade unless you take it off, and even then, it might be difficult to do so. All in all, it's a must have for glitter lovers. http://www.urbandecay.com http://www.manicpanic.com --Neurosis |

They sell the exact same stuff that is labeled 'body glitter' in the drugstores, but without the high price tag. Just look in the aisle with the glitter. It's the clear stuff that shines different colors when the light hits it. Comes in the plastic screw-top jar, and it's so fine, you can't make out the shapes of the individual particles, like you can with normal craft glitters. Tip: use as little of this as possible because the tiniest bit goes a loooong way. And buy a blusher/foundation brush to apply it with, and remember to tap the excess off te brush before applying. If you use too much, it WILL get every. Freaking. Where. Believe me. |
My sister sometimes uses this bronzer stuff with glitter in it. (I mean, she always uses bronzer, but it's not always glittery...) Everything she touches becomes sparkly, and she knows I hate being sparkly so she'll deliberately brush against me when she's wearing it. >_>
I'm intrigued about how you folks pull off the fairy look with it though. Anyone got photos? |
I just wear glitter sparingly on the corners of my eyes. Just a touch of it, looks good.
|
www.limecrime.net sells good quality glitter, and her makeup tutorials are awesome. :)

Hate that stuff. It looks cheap, tacky & orange-esque. |
theres this preppy chick in my school whos like 6 foot tall, and she wears that stuff, she looks like a tall, angry ompa-lompa.

Gyeah. I was that little girl given glitter every Christmas and used it WAY too liberally. Move and glitter falls off. I loved glitter that much. Still love it, and other sparklies but it was once so bad that I covered my arms, face and neck with it. I was in elementary but still, not good.
