Looking for a song.

I'm looking for a song (and, hopefully, a free download of the song). The song is "Yo Ho" by Heather Alexander. It's one of my favorite songs, but I haven't heard it in years. If anyone knows where I can download it (for free), or, better yet, if anyone has the song and can upload it and give a link, that would be great. All help would be appreciated.

Delicate_Torture 01-27-2007 06:50 AM

Or, you could actually BUY the song and not break the law?

Nah.. why would you want to support someone who created something that you've received enjoyment from.

Kraven de Sade 01-27-2007 07:02 AM

Well, gee, let's see...

1. No music stores around here have her CDs.
2. The average going price for one of her CDs at amazon.com is $40.
3. I won't touch eBay with a 10 foot pole.
4. I'm not willing to sign up for any downloading website where I can download a song for $.99 only to have to pay a monthly fee for that single song.
5. I only want that one song.

Good enough?

Delicate_Torture 01-27-2007 07:13 AM

Not really. No.

Kraven de Sade 01-27-2007 07:15 AM

Disappointment sucks, doesn't it?

DarkHeartedDemoness 01-27-2007 07:37 AM

Who's disappointed? She just doesn't approve of your actions. I highly doubt she cares enough about you to be disappointed.

Kraven de Sade 01-27-2007 07:41 AM

Does no one understand sarcasm? I know, I know, it's hard to express sarcasm on a message board.

Still, though, if she doesn't approve, she could always just say so and move on. Or refuse to respond, even.

In any case, I just want to hear this song again. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?

DarkHeartedDemoness 01-27-2007 07:44 AM

She did say so, and since she hasn't posted again, I assume she's moved on.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to hear a good song again. It could be considered wrong to rip off an artist you like and respect, particularly one that isn't famous yet (that I know of) and therefore isn't making loads and loads of cash.

Paigeybobert 01-27-2007 07:47 AM

Limewire. :X
It's illegal to put it on mp3 players and stuff, but I do it anyways.

That's one of the things, though... I only know that one song by this artist. I have never heard anything else by her. I like this one song, but I'm not about to pay $40 for a CD full of songs I don't like just to have a single track that I do like.

DarkHeartedDemoness 01-27-2007 07:48 AM

I think a lot of CD's on Amazon allow you to sample the playlist...

Kraven de Sade 01-27-2007 07:49 AM

Okay, look... If anyone knows where I can download this one track, even if I have to pay (so long as it's not some insanely high price), that's fine too. I just don't want to have to sign up (and keep paying for) a service that I'll most likely never use again.

Well, I'll look to see if they do in this case.

Thank you.

Puh-leeze. I can understand if someone believes it's unethical to download songs, but if it's such a big deal, then there would have been a discussion on this on the Soulseek thread instead of this thread about a specific song.
Speaking about Soulseek, I would reccomend you to look in that program. It generally has the songs you don't normally find in other p2p programs.

Fear the law! Or, you can use soulseek, = ).

Sorry, never heard of her. To comment on this little topic inside of a topic, If an artist is starting out downloading a full album is bad, downloading one or two songs, thats fine. If their popular, then who cares, they have enough money anyway.

DarkHeartedDemoness 01-28-2007 07:26 AM

In your opinion.

I think that if it's an artist I like and respect, I would prefer to buy their shit in a show of support. If I'm getting a song for humorous purposes, or to annoy the hell out of my family on a road trip, and I don't give two shits about the artist, I'll download it.

I think we all have our own sets of rules on right & wrong.

Kraven de Sade 01-28-2007 06:03 PM

Whether I like and/or respect the artist is beyond the point at this time. I only know this one song. I've never heard any of her other songs. So at this point I can only say that I like this song.

I could get and listen to more of her songs to see if her albums are worth buying, but that just goes right back to downloads... I'm not going to buy an album from anyone when I've only heard a few of their songs. And that assumes that I like everything I hear.

the_dude 01-29-2007 05:20 AM

yea download that stuff on soulseek.

Midnight_Fantasy 01-29-2007 06:46 AM

I think if it is only one song your after and it is otherwise impossible to find, Downloading is alright......Just don't get it from Orbitfiles because you will probably only get a sample if you can find the song your after (they have mostly mainstream songs).

Draconysius 01-29-2007 09:56 AM

Soulseek is your best bet. You can download entire albums in one click there, and it has almost NO spam/fake files yet. http://slsknet.org
All you gotta do is download a 512 Kb program, choose a screenname and password, and you're set!

Edit: Oh, yes, and it's 100% free.

Kraven de Sade 01-29-2007 11:29 AM

I'll check Soulseek out, thanks.

Draconysius 01-29-2007 08:42 PM

No prob. Soulseek is a godsend for fans of more underground music.
