Dubstep

Okay, It had to be mentioned at some point.
What's the general opinion on dubstep.
Personally I like some dubstep while other stuff is monotonous wobblage. But on a whole I prefer drum 'n' bass by miles .

Murder.Of.Crows 06-13-2011 09:38 PM

I've seen the dancing that follows it and I wasn't to impressed. I don't mind some of the music, but I'd much prefer... oh god what was it called?.. I think grunge techno or something like that. I dunno.

JCC 06-14-2011 12:58 AM

I love dubstep, but generally I don't like wobbles and all of these 'dirty' midrange basses. I'm not really a fan of the new dubstep style.

Grausamkeit 06-14-2011 07:31 AM

I'm not a fan of dubstep.

MissCheyenne 06-14-2011 09:05 AM

I've tried to like it but none of what I've heard has appealed to me so far. Perhaps there is some I will like, I don't know.

Stormtrooper of Death 06-14-2011 10:41 AM

Eh, it's good depending on my mood, but Industrial is far superior. That being said, I do also like a bit of Trance and Drum n' Bass if the mood strikes me.

What MissCheyenne said. Any recommendations?

vindicatedxjin 06-15-2011 08:17 AM

I personally like skrillex and big chocolate

Raptor 06-15-2011 08:23 AM

Nah, that's still not doing anything for me.

JCC 06-15-2011 11:50 AM

Skrillex and Big Chocolate are both shit IMO. For the most part, the US scene is totally removed from the UK scene. Different roots, producers like Skrillex and Big Chocolate jumped on from electro house and jumpup DnB without ever listening to the UK garage tunes which dubstep came from. Garage was always about a sort of slinky subtlety and without it things tend to go a bit SCHRRCHHHHWOMPWOMPWOMPBZZZTTTTTWOMP, but right now the scene's in sort of an odd place where these new producers have come to define it and mainstays are all a bit forgotten. Also, just a word of warning really that if you're going to listen on headphones/speakers that can't reach down to at least the 50-60hz range you're not going to get the full bassweight or even a bassline at all with some tunes, people like Skrillex make their basses in the bass midrange but classic dubstep is way down in the sub bass range. Bass usually drops at 1min for people who don't listen to much dance music.

Cheers. It's still not really doing anything for me, but I prefer it to Skrillex and Big Chocolate. I don't really know how to explain what I don't like about dubstep, it kind of feels like something is missing and I get bored.

I do like Kode 9 (probably because it has the samples) and Distance.

Sinjob 06-20-2011 05:43 AM

I gave some of it a chance at first and kinda got into it, but then something just couldn't stop bothering me. I thought something was wrong with the speakers. There was this monotonous WOMP WOMP in each song and it never seemed to end, followed by waves of other random shit in samples.

I really thought the whole WOMP WOMP structure was just one shitty song. Then my friend put on more of this 'music' and to my horror I discovered an entire genre based on TWO FUCKING BEATS. Sometimes four, but that's only for the boys who go all out.

Fuck dubstep. It's turning music into a miminalist commune of beanhead retard DJs who think they can capture the rolls and trips of idiots everywhere. Not to mention it all sounds the same. It's pretty much the reason I ditched almost all electronic based music in my library (not really purposely but it just sort of faded out) execept for the Electric Lucifer. THAT'S good shit.

JCC 06-20-2011 09:32 AM

That isn't true.

Curio 06-21-2011 10:50 PM

It's a bit samey to me, too. And very much overrated amongst my friends IMO.

CarrionCorpse 06-21-2011 11:02 PM

There have been very few Dubsteb songs I have heard and liked, but sometimes if the time is right, I can enjoy it.
I wouldn't be able to just sit alone and listen to it though, only at a party or in a club perhaps.

It's very fun to dance to while under the influence of brain altering chemicals.

Annihilation 06-26-2011 03:14 AM

Dubstep is generic shit. There are actually people out there who think dubstep is underground. Fuck them, and fuck everyone who listens to this tripe.

GentlemanBeard 07-17-2011 01:00 AM

My opinion? Dubstep all sounds like the same annoying shot. Skrillex makes me mad for fucking with some Laroux songs that I happened to like. Fuck you Skrillex, Fuck you.

Also hate dubshart for personal reasons. again, just my opinion, I have a dubstep hateboner.

JCC 07-17-2011 04:56 AM

People thinking Skrillex defines dubstep or that Skrillex even makes dubstep is why I wish Americans and Canadians would just stop talking about dubstep.

AshleyO 07-17-2011 06:59 AM

I never heard anything by Skrillex that sounded like Dubstep. Am I missing anything here?

JCC 07-17-2011 07:28 AM

Nah, it's just that people stateside are being spoonfed 'dubstep' which is just electro house but worse so they all confused.

AshleyO 07-17-2011 07:45 AM

There was some things by Skrillex that I enjoyed, but man... I never confused him with Dubstep. I wasn't sure what the hell he was making, but it wasn't Dub.

Peanut 07-22-2011 02:28 AM

OK, I had to make a new fuckin' account to tell the dumb shits in this Mother fucking thread that they are stupid. Dubstep is just WOMP WOMP? NO! Shut up. US dubstep is cock. There's been next to zero decent dubstep since mid 2000's. My fucking Christ. You are all stupid. Listen to JCC, for fuck sake, or go back your back combed retards singing about cats and fruit.

Duckman Mother fucking OUT. Possibly forever, you are all boring now.

Solumina 07-22-2011 09:05 AM

I'm in pretty much the same boat as CC, it can be fun but most of the time it isn't really what I feel like listening to.

ZyklonB 07-27-2011 07:59 PM

I like the collabs that Excision and Datsik have done.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3PAaTeRxYk

Well, I think I like Excision in general. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68yEN...eature=related

And I'm also particularly fond of this track by Psyman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl6hoVjkAOs
