wild makeup ideas

I havent much experience applying makeup. I want to try out some really wild styles...does anyone have any techniques or stuff they've done that's turned out cool, i know it'll make me stand out but that's ok- also- i have brown hair and green eyes. for example, some sort of easy eyemakeup techniques...something to make me look less drab and more glamorous or dark...i have trouble looking dark. I dont have any idea how to apply dark makeup and i dont have many dark looking outfits either. Im not necessarily a goth, i would love any tips for looking for feminine goth though...side note- i want to become a makeup artist someday.

Ever tried purple or black eye shadow?

Have you tried asking for tips at a makeup stand in a large store? They usually do makeovers ( I'm not sure if you have to pay for them but it's worth a go ) Try a MAC stand, their makeup is expensive, but it is really good quality stuff. Their eyepaints are wonderful, and the pigment pots last AGES as you only need a small amount to do a whole eye. I'm sure the people who work on these counters can help you with application techniques, and reccommend what products and brushes /applicators to use.

When it comes to eyeliner, start off with pencil liner first, to train your hand to stay steady. Resting your elbow on something, even if only your other hand is helpful. Once you have mastered pencil, try doing your design ect in light pencil, then go over the faint lines with liquid liner for a heavier look ( like tracing pretty much ).

I always found the liquid liners with a sponge pointed applicator easier to work with than the really thin long brush you sometimes get, but that's just me.

I personally use a type of liner ( Babecake by Benefit ) that looks and behaves like a watercolour paint, I use a very fine short length paintbrush, wet it, swirl over the liner cake to coat it and then apply. I also use it for my eyebrows :)

I have green eyes too, and have found that deep deep red, purples, plums and surprisingly, mettalic emerald green, work really well for me in making the green of my eyes stand out. I also use a lot of black of course !

Hope some of that rambling is useful :)

I do this thing call cat eyes. I take my eyeliner and draw right under my eyes and then draw a point on the sides of my eyes.

Something like that but more dramatic.

thanks, that was really helpful. Next time Im at the mall Ill ask for a makeover, hah, they usually have free samples.

This is one of my slighlty more adventurous styles, I'm working on different ones now though

You should try this site:
http://www.limecrime.net/

Click on the strawberries in the left corner that has "Extras" above it. That'll take you to the make-up tutorial section.

I used the Racoon Pinkie tutorial for my Prom make up. All I did was switch the colour from pink to purple. http://www.limecrime.net/tutorials/racoonpinkie.htm

For ever day wear I usually just use heavy black pencil liner. Occasionally I'll wear an eyeshadow that matches one of the colours in my outift (if I'm wearing colour). I have an amazing complexion so I only rarely need to wear foundation. *knock on wood*

Wow. Those limecrime tutorials are like hawtness.

To mindless1 - you should try just messing around with eyeliner, using it beyond your eyes to make patterns. You could line the underside of your eye, then continue the line into a swirl, a cross, an ankh, etc. You can also use the liner to make a row of dots along your eyebrow or to draw an "x" near your hairline, as if you've just had a lobotomy.

Words of caution: test out new makeup before you wear it out, so you can see what it does. Some eyeliners, for example, just smudge or peel after an hour or so, which might not be so hot if you're on a hot date.

Good goth, you MUST do your eyeliner/shadow Rozz Williams style (make it look purposely like you've wept). Also, drawing neato Egypt looking patterns on you looks very nice as well :). And, I would reccomend the usage of lipstick drawn on your face from your mouth making it look like blood ;)-which is very nice as well.

Well, it's not wild, imo, but this is my general everyday eyemakeup. I usually match my eyeshadow to whatever color hair extensions I'm wearing that day. (These pics are old...before I started shaving my eyebrows, but I still wear this style almost daily) :)

Zakyath 06-15-2007 11:23 AM

What colours are good if you have very, very blue eyes? :*

Seraphynth 06-15-2007 03:59 PM

Chelseagirl, what kind of make up do you use?

Semi-psychedelic sexiness.

chelseagirl 06-16-2007 07:23 AM

Seraphynth: I uber loyal to Ben Nye. I used to use MAC, but when I found Ben Nye, I got rid of all of my other brands of eyeshadow, and bought every color Ben Nye makes. They stay on 10 times better than anything else I've ever used, and are always crazy bright. I do have one palette of Kryolan Aquacolor in metalics that is amazing though. The silver on my upper lids is Kryolan metallic silver used very lightly. If you apply it heavily, it actually looks almost like uber sparkly tinfoil. :)

For eyeliner, I usually use Maybeline waterproof liquid liner...or Wet and Wild waterproof liquid liner. Both have felt tip applicators rather than a brush, which I find is much easier to use, and both stay on really well without running or smearing.

Crying_Crimson_Tears 06-16-2007 07:29 AM

chelseagirl I must say you have stunning eyes. And I love your make up.

Absolutely gorgeous.

Minyaliel 06-17-2007 02:08 PM

Seraphynth - I love you - thanks for posting that link. *am working my way through the tuts*

Zakyath - depends on your skin tone. I myself have very pale skin and bright blue eyes which are so blue that they're almost going on turquoise, apparently (according to people who've commented on them). I usually use purples, light cold pink, browns (very often for everyday makeup or if I'm in a hurry), white or off- white, blacks and greys and (sparingly) light blue. I've also experimented with reds and orange, but wasn't too happy with the result. Just try something, and see if it works out, that's what I do.

I use whatever is cheap, lol, cause I have no money, but I plan on investing in some nice stuff. Usually, if I'm just going out to the store I put on eye liner and some bronze eye shadow (I have really green eyes, and bronze and golds look REALLY nice with green eyes).

If I am going out, I usually wear silver eye shadow, sparkely blue eye liner,, and some silver sparkles on op of the liner (It looks really pretty and fun) My lips are a nice darkish color (usually purples).

mindless1 06-19-2007 04:14 PM

Yes My eyes are a green. I like buying makeup cheap because it's more fun and you can mess with it without wasting money. I havent got any bronze or gold, I have a bunch of shades of blue, black, and grey. Not much to work with for something unusual...but I have tried using food coloring which works- to get different desired colors without paying loads for them.

kitten 06-19-2007 04:28 PM

I usually buy funky chap make up too. (But I DO need to invest in some nice mineral make up because my face is very oily)

I really want to try those tutorials..now..Tehee :)
They look so beautiful ^^

Crying_Crimson_Tears 06-30-2007 07:22 PM

The other night I used L'Oreal's HIP (High Intensity Pigment) dark and bright metallic blue eyeshadow. And I used the dark blue right on my lids, then used the bright stuff all the way up to my eye brows. Then I took a dark blue eyeliner and went right under my eyes. But not too far under the eyes. Then I used the eyeliner and did feathering upwards. But I only did three lines of feathering. It looked really nice. I'll ask seektoamplify to post pictures.

My sister has green eyes and she uses an eyeshadow which has a reddish-purple color. She has alot of red eyeshadows. It'll actually make your eyes seem like you're about to tear up or cry. It's a very dramatic look for people with green or hazel eyes. Use liquid liner on the upper lip but use a purple or red liner on the lower lid. (i'm looking at one of her pics). If someone has blue eyes, the bluer the more dramatic; but concentrate on the lower lid.

I could never understand why everyone liked LimeCrime. Her makeup sucks.
I would never take makeup advice from someone who thinks it's hot to draw cupcakes around your eyes.
