i completely agree with delicate torture. Does it honestly matter what they call themselves? They were on a compilation cd entitled A Dark Cabaret, which I believer to make more sense than punk cabaret.
Why are you so upset that they dont want to be associated with the goth subculture? It's probably more because Amanda Palmer was a punk in her younger years and still has left over distaste from being lumped into the alternative subculture catagory, just as you are upset they want to be lumped into the punk category.
Do I personally consider them punk? No.
Do I dance around and sing at the top of my lungs to their music? Guilty.
