This is just another outcome of pure capitalism in action. The bush administration allowed the industry to remove all safeguards in efforts to maximize profits. We now see how that turned out.

This is the same thing happening in the mortgage crisis - again the current administration removed safeguards put in place to protect the people in efforts to let businesses maximize profits.

It is also what we will be seeing as global warming destroys other industries due to climate change. All those environmental laws which bush repealed to let companies run amok to make profits will come around just the the aforementioned issue and bite the companies in the arse, and the average citizens will be the ones who suffer.

And now the bush administration is trying to get people to let them drill in protected nature reserves, even though there is no need. Opponents are worried that one small spill, like in New Orleans just the other day, will destroy large portions of Americas travel resort beaches for decades.

Anyone else see a accident just waiting to happen if they move ahead to once again put private company profits ahead of the interests of the people?
