Even if he stole it, the accusation was that he was taking drugs; that he stole it is irrelevant to the fact that they only 'knew' this by observing him without his consent, apparently for other reasons than finding the laptop, and even if the webcam was powered to locate it (which is really stupid, everyone here agrees on that at least) at that precise moment they thought he was taking drugs, making any further accusation than that he stole it was not warranted in the same manner that court evidence acquired through illegal means ought not be considered in court.
