I think the way victims are treated needs to change. We need to stop blaming the person who was a victim of this sick and vile crime and using what they wear, what their lifestyle happens to be, even their sexual orientation, as an excuse for what happened to them.
It seems that anything not considered the "norm" about a victim is automatically an excuse.
