I'm probably not really the right person to ask, as I'm not really into lipstick on guys (unless it's for an artsy photoshoot possibly). That's not to say there's anything wrong with it of course. Have you ever seen the move Gypsy 83? The male character, Clive, wears lipstick (various shades) in a large part of the move. Maybe you could check that movie out to get some ideas.
It's a really cute movie, and Clive's character is adorable.
