Yeah, if they leave who is going to be picking up the bill for them then?

Two things to note here -

First, before anyone says 'those numbers are eight years old', Google a bit if you like, but here are some more up to date numbers from 2009 and 2010 that are identical plus an article explaining the numbers still hold true -

More importantly along those lines for anyone who would say 'those are old numbers', does anyone really think in the last eight years Mississippi has just taken off financially? Is there some type of technological revolution going on in Alabama that we all just missed? That question is rhetorical, we all know these areas are, and always have been deprived and live off Federal funding. Anyone who argues about the age of the numbers is ignoring the fact most red states do not produce anything and have very small cities that do not produce much of anything.

Second, the people pushing for secession were on the various media channels last night agreeing with those numbers and said that they would have all the people who couldn't afford to live there move to a blue state. I was laughing when I heard this. I mean, if all the people in red states who get government assistance of one kind of another left, there wouldn't be enough people left to sustain the few businesses they do have there. What a laugh sure!
