You see, I didn't mind an ending. But you couldn't continue adventuring. At the same time, Broken Steel fixed that problem and for some reason, I liked it more, but didn't feel like exploring because despite all the addons, there was really no reason to explore.
For some reason, exploring for the lulz in Oblivion was just as satisfying as playing the quests. I'm just confused as to how that spark was lost to Bethesda when they made FO3.
