Uhh, If I took an animal in, I would and have treated it like a brother/sister. We (my family) have considered any pets that we have had to be our family and are treated as such. Admittedly we are cat people and I think they are easier to take care off compared to dogs, but even so, there is usually always one of us around it to take care of it.

I was speaking for myself. I cant speak for everyone. You are right though that there is no point taking in a pet and neglecting it.

Edit: I love Pets. They dont lie about their emotions. They either like you or dont. They are honest, unlike human beings.
