Black Metal

Is anybody else here into it? I've recently started listening Dimmu Borgir, Finntroll, and Gorgoroth. I really like them, but that's pretty much it that I know of. I need some good suggestions.

I also realize that Dimmu Borgir is kind of on the mainstream side, but honestly I don't give a flying fuck if something is super-cool-indie-style or mainstream.

I don't know what's true and what's false about Velvet Cacoon, what is their material (if any of it is), but I've been shown things released under the Velvet Cacoon name that I liked so I figured I'd recommend it.

Oh, I missed out Wolves in the Throne Room earlier.

I really never understood the difference between Black Metal and Death Metal. I do have an album with Emperor though.

Favorites: Drudkh, Wolves in the Throne Room, Hate Forest, Coldworld, Dark Funeral, Katharsis, Craft, Gorgoroth, Judas Iscariot, Njiqahdda, Obtained Enslavement, Witchmaster, Xasthur.

Dimmu Borgir is crap in my honest opinion.

Gorgoroth, Marduk, Craft, Wolves in the Throne Room, Nachtmystium, Xasthur, Drudkh, Burzum, Blut Aus Nord.

EDIT:
Sorry, only after I read through the posts did I realize that the majority of those bands were already mentioned.

I don't think Dimmu Borgir are COMPLETE shit. It's fun to listen to, in my opinion, and they've got that whole "epic" thing going on.

If your looking for something more obscure/relatively unknown try Altar of Plagues, Astral Aeon (if you like dimmu's epic sound), Circle of Ouroborus, Wraith, Exiled From the Light, Limbonic Art, Nocturnal Depression, Sancta Poenas, Secrets of the Moon.

Furthermore google search for the blog "The Unholy Kingdom".

I wouldn't call those obscure.... Nocturnal Depression's pretty well known by DSBM standards.

Well, the OP put Finntroll in his list of favorite black metal, so....

Thanks Port for the Unholy Kingdom thing. Pretty neato.

Anyway, though I haven't been un-lazy enough to check out most of these bands, there have been a few good gems.

Again though, I don't give a rat's ass if a band is obscure or not. I never understood how band A is better than band B because less people know about band A.
