Near Dark

Is anyone a fan of the film Near Dark? I'm reading some reviews of it, and Near Dark doesn't seem to have done so well in the minds of critics. Personally, I it. Any opinions?

That should be "Personally, I like it."

I found it to be a refreshing addition to the vampire film genre. While critics didn't particularly like it, it gained a cult following of sorts, as is usually the way with such films.

I do like the movie.

You know Hollywood is remaking it, right?

Bill Paxton was good. I really believed that he was a cocky, lunatic, white-trash vampire. And all without the film ever using the word "vampire"! Take that Anne Rice.

I'm convinced this movie cost me half a letter grade in a class one time. A few weeks into my first semester of freshman year, my professor was talking about a screenplay he had written. "It's a vampire western," he said, "No one's ever done that before."
I raised my hand and asked "... What about Near Dark?"
Come final grades, I had an inexplicable A- in a class with no tests, to which I had arrived on time every day. Fuck you, Near Dark.
