I saw this a while back. Definitely a gore movie. The scissors scene actually caused me to physically flinch and cringe. Beautiful cinematography. I love how the eerie mood is set.

The plot is a little hazy, or perhaps the psuedo-intellectuals would prefer the term subtle, but it's because the gory parts are so distractingly in-your-face. The movie deals with themes like femicide, ritualistic child abuse, and how psychosis can interact with guilt.

The "action" portion, in contrast, is extremely graphic.

If you liked the "Saw" movies, but wanted things a bit more psychologically twisted, you'd like this.

If you don't consider blood, guts, and extreme sexual torture to be suitable entertainment, stay far, far away.

I give it 3.5 stars.
