Hello. world

I'm new. I shall now introduce myself, since I believe that this is considered the socially acceptable thing to do, here, and this sentence isn't pretentious at all, I swear...I'm only nervous.

I'm a 23 year old male, living in California. I've been on the path of goth for quite a while, "falling" deeper and deeper into it, even though I didn't know it was really gothic at the time. (Insulated upbringing and all that.) Oh, and I'm a Christian, just so you know. This means I don't judge or make nasty remarks about the beliefs of others, unless, of course, it's Scientology. Then you're out of luck. :-P

I shall now answer your interrogatory statements:

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
My job is earning money with the family fine finishing business to afford my last few courses of college. My hobbies are diverse: computer games, reading, writing, and - I feel odd saying this - putting together goth (more Victorian) outfits...and also doing so for my room.

2. Where are you from?
California. I have my own apartment.

3. Who is your favorite author?
Wow...heh. That's not very nice. Well, I truly enjoyed Edgar Allen Poe in th way back when, and still do. Neil Gaiman is very good. Anne Rice, although her writing is a bit melodramatic for me. Other, similar authors as well.

4. What are your favorite films?
I'm not a big movie fan. Many of them seem a bit trite, though not all are. George Romero is..."interesting" with his zombie films. I enjoyed Lord of the Rings, as I feel it is a somewhat gothic universe (read the Silmarillion), and was faithful to the books. I like The Sound of Music, too, for some odd reason.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Wed...ding? Well, if I do end up getting married, I suppose that would depend if I can manage to get my prospective bride to allow some Siouxsie or Nephilim on the floor. No, wait! Rasputina. Definitely Rasputina.

6. At your funeral?
Forever, by Siouxsie. Definitely that song. And a couple hymns. Funerals, however, aren't for the dead, they are for the living.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Definitely while I'm doing some good for someone. Dying while doing something very foolish/very stupid makes for embarrassing funerals and eulogies.

Maybe shielding someone from gunfire? Quick, violent, and might even give me the chance for some classy parting words.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
Black, plain wood, in the coffin shape. I rather dislike those abhorrent modern monstrocities which look like large, modified freezers.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
My cloak, with...probably white dress shirt (severe collar), black formal pants, boots, belt or double belts. Other accessories as events warrant.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
I had a fairly bad childhood, so...not much. (You know it was bad when it is other people telling you how horrible it was.) But I do miss...legos. Legos were good.

11. What's your favorite band?
I zip around from time to time on this, but probably a toss-up between Siouxsie and the Banshees and Evanescence. I know Evanescence isn't goth, of course, but it got me through a lot of tough times.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
One Bachelors in History, trying to finish one in Communications (I double majored).

13. Why did you join?
Many reasons, actually. I live in a small community, which is mostly older people at that, which tends to make one seek out alternate methods of...socialization. I'm also one of few, if any, goths in town, so there's that, too, although I have friends who are into punk and metal. And I have a few normal friends.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Male. And straight.

Well, that's me in a label and nutshell. I like to lurk a lot, but when I get the energy I may post now and then. Cheers!

-Eric

Ever listen to Rasputina? A bit more...quiet than most people are used to, but interesting.

Don't you mean a casket? Coffins tends to be rectangular.

You worry me. Females of the species think I am "weird". I shall freeze and attempt to blend into the surrounding foliage.

Uh-oh. No foliage.

(On a more serious note, i like you too, if you like Rasputina :-) )

Yes, Lolly, I mean a casket. But, in most of the works I've read, the authors had no problem using the two interchangeably. So, up until now, I simply used "coffin" in an effort to maximize mental efficiency (nothing of the sort, I'm just lazy). In the future, I suppose I shall use "casket".

Probably because the board wouldn't let me indent properly.

Welcome.
