Do you know where I can find a list of animal-friendly companies? I'd like to take this into consideration before I get mascara or powder.

Yes. Here...

That is hard to see, for me anyway I am not good in Adobe. *shrug* I am careful about that too and usually only buy Revlon and MAC and occasionally Estee Lauder. I like the colors best with MAC.

I use an orange-ish brown that was originally a hideous blush. I wish I could wear more vibrant colors (or black), but I have gross eyelids and it looks like shit. Moreover, extensive makeup of any kind tends to look like shit on me.

The store I like to go to ran out of black eyeliner pencils! The only ones they have, are the 'combo' type. The kind with one color on one side and another different color on the other. I bought two black/blue.
I think I will try them.

I'm still partial to the Japanese pretty boy make up look. Yeah, not real gothy or deathrocker of me, but damn it. When it looks good, it looks good.

Red and purples, then I usually wear black, brown or a dark gray for eye liner.

I'm actually pretty shit with make up so I don't tend to wear a lot of it.

I ultimately settle with Black and White since those are my favorite colors and they instantly match everything. And of course, no one can live without the black winged liner. Gotta have it.

Easiest place to find reds is in the blush section

I am currently not wearing eyeshadow and instead I'm just using a pearl eyeliner

It all depends on my mood, typically deep purple or grey in girl mode, in guy mode, grey if I wear any.

For those of you who have trouble applying makeup and eyeshadow:

http://uk.youtube.com/user/panacea81

This woman has a SHITLOAD of tutorials on different styles of eyeshadow and makeup.

I warn you, she is a geordie ( from the Newcastle area of the UK for those who don't know ) and her accent is fairly strong. Also she speaks a little quickly so some may struggle to understand her. But quite frankly you don't really need to, just watch.

I went to a Halloween shop and I found theatrical makeup which had a red makeup stick, among other interesting colors. I use it for eyeliner. Perhaps you could check a Halloween store around you?

When one has dark bags under one's eyes every day, would it be smarter to forgo said eyeshadow?

Oh and Pineapple_Juice baby, eyeshadow can help detract attention away from the bags. But if you've really bad dark circles, you should use a concealer. MAC do a great one called select cover up. x

Buying makeup is kind of difficult for me as I refuse to buy products from companies that test on animals and other companies don't always have what I want.

I've tried this, it might work. A little dab of red (any color) food coloring with some white eyeshadow. It's cheap and easy.

Opt for navy blue mascara and eyeliner, though you should line the upper lids only. Also opt for a somewhat light and shimmery eyeshadow as it will help to brighten the whole area.

I am not sure whether napoleon perdis tests on animals but I am pretty sure they have eyeshadow in almost every colour and the colours are really intense.

If you can't find eyeshadow in red - try using a red or close-to-red blush on your eyes instead of eyeshadow.

Yeah. MAC is awesome.
Unfortunately there is no outlet here,
just in Sydney, Melbourne, and a few other cities...
