I've been cleaning my parents house for the last two days... I've remembered why I have a sttrong liking for utilitarianism and minimalism in design.

I finally found an explanation for all the memory issues I've had (which, when you're in a family with 40+ cousins and can't remember most of their names, is a problem).

Also, after the diagnosis, for most folks there is a naturally occurring period of depression, and perhaps even grieving. Because you have to come to terms with the fact that certain things are never going to get better. You can take medication and learn behavioral coping mechanisms, but the disease (or brain chemistry disorder if you prefer) is never going away.

I went through this. Get help if you need it.
Thanks for the support. If I had been here long enough and posted enough to send pm's, I would have sent you a really long and boring one, so I'll just say thanks, and I've got a great psychologist now who actually knows what he's doing rather than my family docter assuming I was bipolar.

Haha swine flu.

I think Rosie might shortcircuit and then there'd be one more thing my electrician father swears he'll get around to fixing (but if the directions are in Japanese he'll be delighted because languages are his true passion). But thanks for the thought, that's really fucking cool!

Is Elder Scrolls IV a good game? Looks a bit like Baldur's gate, but with much better graphics.

His major was German with a minor in Russian at University of Illinois, then he learned Turkish and taught English there in the '70's. He also speaks Spanish, Hungarian (to spite my cousin Bella who came over during the democratic uprising and said an American couldn't learn Hungarian), Greek, and during the 90's he took an interest in East Asian languages and now understands Japanese, Mandarin and Korean. He likes to read about Gaelic languages and languages currently spoken in India, but I don't think he's fluent in any of those.

So, about 9.

Those are really good languages to know- much more practical than the one Iknow :P

I ws really impressed by my cousins in Arizona who can speak perfect Spanish just from working in the service industry. Most of the spanish-speaking people who come through Southern Illinois are usually teaching at a University level or are migrant workers, so it's a shame that we don't have the same language immersion in that respect.

What's your native language? I sometimes take it for granted on this board... there are a lot of non-native english writers that I never would have guessed on here.

I've been playing "Elder Scrolls iV - Oblivion" on my PS3 for a while. It was named as best RPG of the Year by some magazines and is considered one of the must have games on this system. I think your assessment is probably fair, although it's been a while since I looked at Baldur's Gate. Graphics are nicer, gameplay probably is a little more open ended (meaning you can really go exploring if you like) and the game world is pretty expansive. Well worth your time if you can get a deal on the game ... or get it as a gift!

And yes, I think it is a very good game.

;-)

My enormous cat is grunting in his sleep. It's a purr and a snore and a danceable beat all at once.

That's what I spent my day playing, too. The graphics are breathtaking, but I still have a sentimental spot for Morrowind.

That link doesn't seem to work, but I'm assuming that's the price of a concert ticket. I've never paid that much to see anyone, though I might consider it depending on who it was and how good my seats were.
