introducing Opheliasghost

Hey there. My name is Jil, I'm a 21 year old female from the East Coast of Canada. I'm an artist/writer in my spare time and slave away in a call center by day. I'm sure you can guess which one I prefer.

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job):
writing, painting, drawing, digital art and web design, reading and research.

2. Where are you from?
a moderate sized city on the east coast of Canada. Halifax, Nova Scotia.

3. Who is your favorite author?
Chuck Palahniuk, I would say.

4. What are your favorite films?
indie, horror, b movie horror, thrillers. I love indie asian horror, like the original The Eye and Ringu.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Pantera. I'm sure I'll be the only one to appreciate that though.

6. At your funeral?
Mozart's "Lacrimosa"

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Old age, preferably.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
No casket. Burial at sea.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Unfortunately most of my outfits are the same and quite bland at the moment. I'm pretty broke and unable to purchase the things I want to wear. But, every outfit is infinately better when I wear my homemade black cross and lace choker.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
being constantly happy and so easy to please.

11. What's your favorite band?
Well, my musical preference is symphonic metal, grunge and darkwave. Current favorites include Pantera, Apocalyptica, Poison Black, and Abney Park

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I'm a university drop out. I left due to illness and haven't gone back yet. When I was in university, though, I majored in Forensic Anthropology.

13. Why did you join?
Quite honestly, like minded individuals are rare in my town. I think in the last three years I only saw one other "goth" girl, and she was an import for the Gay Pride Parade.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
female.

I would think a longer history, and broader studies

forensic anthroplogy is the study of human remains. When the corpses too decayed to do an autopsy, they call in the forensic anthropologist. Think, "Bones" the TV show.

Thank you all for the welcomes!

I'm sorry about the ophelia thing. Had I known there was another, I wouldn't have chosen the username. I have quite an obsession with Ophelia myself. But I'm always up for a good duel!

wooooooooooooo East Canada! Represent! ^_^

We should get along famously, I'm a physical anthropology drop out, but I hope to go back in January. Can you do forensic anthropology specifically in Halifax, or is it major in anthro then go on and do forensics?

I'm not actually entirely sure how it works since I dropped out before I could get on with it. There is Forensic Antrho 1, 2, and 3, but then you have to go through apprenticeship training, etc, down in Miami-Dade, Florida. The only way to get into the apprenticeship is to be the absolute top in the class. And the class is far too huge for me to even dream about being in the top.

As of right now, there are only two Foresnic Anthropologists in Canada, and one of them was my professor. Saint Mary's University is the only one in the East offering it, I think. But even then, you cant finish your degree in Halifax.

Ah, I see. It was something I was interested in but there's just no demand for it I guess. So I'll grab my fedora and be an archaeologist instead ^_^

excellent idea!

I'm pretty sure that there is a demand (seeing as how there are only 2 in Canada) but Canada's not making an effort to find some.

well the thing with forensic anthropology is that, how many skeletons are found? I'm sure not too many pop up. Plus with physical anthropology its *kinda* the same thing, its just you might be looking at a mummy or homo erectus.

Exactly. Skeletons are rare when it comes to crime, believe it or not. That's why Canada can get away with only two Forensic Anthropologists. When bodies are found they're still pretty fleshy.

Cool. You are sort of close to me. I live in... well, I guess north eastern Maine, though more east than North. I also like to write. Glad to meet someone else who does.
