Introduction (Plain and simple)

Hiya! My name is Jidysi, and I'm an necrophili- huh? What? Oh... sorry, wrong group... *shifty eyes*

So anyways, I'm Jidysi, but people I once knew called me Jid. Some of You may recognise me, and some of You may very well hate me. Well, so do I, so get over it.

I'm a bisexual pagan, interested in literacy and debating (mostly religious debates). I think that about covers it. If not, then ask, and I will answer.

Jid

*grins* I'm sort of a hybrid; A little of everything, from slipknot, to Metallica, to System, and Cradle of Filth. In a Rammstein mood at the mo, though lol

Wrong! Check out the fucking music forum. None of those are goth bands. Go to wikipedia and fucking learn. While you are at it fill out the bleeding questions!

I asked her if she liked goth, and which bands. That's what she named.

Maybe I should go back to Deathrock.com.

Yeah...Why did you leave?

And ah...bi-pagan?

1. R-e-a-d-a-b-o-o-k!

2. *facepalm*? Never a good thing.

3. Knowing the general basics of goth music (The 'Haus, anything Siouxsie and Nick Cave have ever touched, Virgin Prunes, pre-insane Adam Ant, Christian Death B.V., The Sisters of Mercy, anything from 80s era Beggar's Banquet and 4AD) and having the common sense to realize that making it a lifestyle is simply r-tarded to the cord are essential

4. ???

5. Profit!

Oh, and it'll do you quite well not to piss 245 Trioxin over dead threads.

Ouch.

Goth ≠ metal. I can enjoy a bit of metal, don't get me wrong, but the two genres are completely separate.

Welcome anyways. And listen to Lolly.

I dunno...because it seemed like there was a lot of jackassery going on there. But at least no one there talks about shitty metal and mainstream rock, because no one outside of the goth scene has even heard of deathrock.

Okay, now I look like more of a jackass with cord instead of core. *shudders*

So, let me get this straight: Because I don't listen to some list of pre-approved goth bands, suddenly I'm some kind of wannabe? Well, let me point out something to all of You:

South Africa has the slowest rate of imports. You name it, we are the last country to get it, if ever. Half the bands You mention (one of them was named Sioux, I believe) I have never even heard of, that is how slow it is here.
To make matters even worse, witches are being prejuiduced against and could, if the trials go awry, face immediate imprisonment for practicing the Xhosa definition of witchcraft (i.e. Voodoo).
There are no goth shops, no pagan shops, and if You're lucky, one goth club that isn't playing some sort of rnb shit!

So, I'd very much appreciate it if You reserved judgement for the time being. It's hard enough as it is.

Witchcraft has nothing to do with goth. The rest I won't touch.

Did I ever say witchcraft had anything to do with Goth? All I'm pointing out is that this country I'm in is completely fucked up, and going about things arse-about-face.
Oh crap, this is turning into a political thread.
I guess all I'm asking is to not be bashed, really.

Well you have the internet and people have given you suggestions. We also have a person who is from South Africa here..
You see the goth "subculture" is based around goth rock. A person who claimed (s)he was goth or into goth and didn't like the music or even know the music would be like a person calling himself/herself a guitarist when he hasn't even seen a guitar.

Some one said to read a book; sure, which books?
Please name a few other bands that You were recommend.

Oh, and for the record, I'm a he ^.~

Good God, if that's true about the imports you'd be 25-30 years behind.

Let's just say that when the whole world was talking about The Craft (as an example) we were still trying to get hold of the movie.

Uhm, what side of South Africa are you on? I'm in Pretoria, and there's a little goth shop called Paradox...

Edit: And ever been to Menlyn's Musica? Nearly A whole rack dedicated to Siouxie and the Banshees.

Just saying.
