David Bowie dead at 69 from cancer

Ground Control to Major Tom: Farewell and thank you. From movies to music you made us think and come to terms with our human condition.

I was in junior high when Space Oddity was released and in high school when Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars came out.

Magical times.

Oh man, this is such a hard one for me.

Check ignition and may God's love be with you, Bowie.

Saw that the other night and the first thing I thought to myself was, "Well shit."

Think I'll introduce my fiancee to The Hunger since she's never seen it and she's a long time Bowie fan herself.

While he'll always be gone, at least we have his art to enjoy.

Yes friends, the world has lost a true artist. Bowie was a poet, singer, song writer, actor and an intellectual. He believed deeply in the value of art and music. His tireless reinvention of himself struck a chord with the times in which he lived and he helped to shape the culture of those times.

Earlier last year I read an excellent biography of Bowie by George Tremlett : David Bowie : Living On the Brink. Tremlett was a British music journo who knew Bowie right from his early days in Brixton. Well worth checking out.

Fare Well Ziggy........
