This is a painful memory and I wasn't going to bring it up, but I'm pretty sure this is how I got Goth Positive. At a movie theatre while we were getting seats I made eye contact with a beautiful goth boy with topaz eyes, just for a moment, and then after the movie was over he was gone and there was a note left on my seat that said "Welcome to the world of Goth."

I don't even remember where mine started. I just know I woke up one day with a lust for black crushed velvet and it's never left me.

Was it cold and uninviting? Sounds like your toilet seat might be goth.

What I WOULD say, however, is that you therefore have absolutely no business talking about what is and isn't goth, since you have absolutely no idea due to having no experience.
Who are you to judge what experiance I do and do not have? What exactly do you know about me? I currently do not idetify as goth because I truly do not care for the music any longer. I listen to very little of it.
And as for my reason for being here? I like some of the people here.
Now, I question YOUR reasons for being here.

Furthermore, claiming that goth is something you are born to be is just pure rubbish, and claiming that a specific personality is required to identify as goth is just arrogant.

I got it at birth. I awoke to the pain of a new existence as I was taken from the warmth of the womb by cold, sterile hands and bathed in an achingly bright light that blinded my senses. The experience was etched upon my soul.

I get twitchy everytime I'm near someone wearing white. I can't go to weddings because my goth senses get disturbed by all the bright colours. It's a hard life.

The very fact that you depend on a genre of music to "identify as goth" proves you have no clue what a "goth" is. You believe that the notion of having a gothic personality is rubbish because have no idea what it is to be a goth. Your own ignorance blinds you from any sort of truth on the topic, and your density closes your mind off to any assertions to the contrary.

I'm here because it's supposedly a gothic community, however, seeing as how I've met two people so far whom seem to actually be goth, and the rest seem to be either obnoxiously immature, or insufferably moronic, I'm not sure how long I'll stay.

Honestly, no one actually cares why you think you're goth. The only reason this thread lives on is because it's funny. This is actually a literature forum so it doesn't matter if the people here identify as goth or not.

Well, this forum wasn't advertised as a literature forum. It has a literature section, but considering the ads, the look, and the topics, it blatantly appears to be a forum for goths. If what you say is true, then I suggest the owner decide to stop being so misleading.

Check the top of the boards under where it says Gothic.Net. Also, don't question the owners, it gets messy...........

Well, if the owner decided to do something negative to me for pointing out an obvious fact, then I don't see why I should care to be here anyway. So, I'll speak the truth, and the owner can do whatever he/she wishes to do. I'm not going to refrain from speaking the truth just because someone in charge might be butthurt by it.

Just sayin'. Seriously though, no one cares if you or me or anyone else for that matter is a goth, wants to be a goth or used to be a goth. If that's how you personally identify, that's fine, no ones gonna hold it against you but this forum is what it is so if it ain't goth enough in our kitchen, no ones making you stay.

"Gothic.net - Bone Chilling Literary Culture" is very misleading? Are you serious? So, do you think that Marry Shelly, Mathew Gregory Lewis, or Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu identified as goth? No? Weird.

I'm sure you couldn't care less how much respect I or anyone else has for you, but that just goes to show how little respect you have for yourself.
