i'll see it because i liked the first one. it look decent and like they are adding in more than just "the door budged...i think" the idea of the baby and the dog being in danger should add to the tension because those are two things you just dont hurt in a movie (animals is a more recent thing but babies or small children you leave alone). I hope they dont ruin this because it has potential if the treat this as a different incident unrelated to the original.

I'll also go see PA2.
But personally, I thought the first one was a bore.
Maybe I just wasn't affected by it like others were, but I didn't think it was interesting until the last 15 minutes or so.
But PA2 looks much more interesting with the baby and dog in danger.

This trend of horror movies with found footage died long ago for me. The murderer? The first Paranormal Activity. And it's gonna die for everyone else after the Last Exorcism and this sequel.

At me? Because it's a gimmick that will keep working til it fades away? Maybe. But not idiocy.

Couldn't stand the first movie. I lasted five minutes, got bored and left the room.

Please. The real things are much more interesting.

I watched the first with Rifftrax so maybe that ruined it for me, but it was kinda ridiculous.

I liked Blair Witch because it was such a neat idea back then, and I liked [rec] even better, but PA just felt like Blair Witch all over again only with worse acting.

I feel bad now cuz I'm the one who told you about it, and then when I watched it with riff trax i was horribly disappointed. I actually didn't find it funny at all and it ruined the movie which I really enjoyed in theatre.

It was hilarious!

"What was that? Oh its just the Blair Witch heating up a burrito." Not the exact quote but I laughed.

Found footage movies may be a gimmick, but I have to admit I rather like them. But having said that, I really don't think PA is a movie that needs a sequel. Though I'll probably watch it some day when it's on Netflix instant streaming.

I loved the first PA.

Really, really loved it.

I thought it was one of the best horror films ever made, hands down. But ONLY in the director's cut. Because the theatrical cut was absolutely defiled by the silliest of silly endings by Steven Spielberg's idiot meddling.

The director (or someone involved with it) of the first movie really knew what he was doing. The paranormal activity of the film is the unknown, it's brilliant. The sequels had no idea of this and for that, they were all ham-fisted, vomit worthy garbage. No one making those had any idea what made the first movie.

I thought the one where they communicated with the entity through a children's game had some fun in it, maybe it was the one where they spoke Spanish or something (It's been many years, I remember fuckall) but that's it. The sequels were horrible changeling children of a beautiful parent. As was the theatrical cut, too. So this shit was pretty much ruined from the start. But it was supposed to be a gem.

I wanted to get back to this, haha. It seems I'm obsessed, but I happened to think of a concrete example on how the makers didn’t get "it" in the sequel and I wanted to share.

The very central dragging scene.

The scene where the woman (Katie?) was dragged out of bed in the first movie was awesome. It works because of the unknown factor. She was being dragged very purposefully, yet there doesn’t seem to be anywhere the force could be taking her. So where was it taking her? It’s interesting, it’s intriguing, it’s potentially terrifying.
Also, I’m 100% convinced that the scene came from the film maker’s dream. It happens to be an exact replica of an archetypical dream of ours. Although less prevalent, it’s the same as for example, dreams of losing teeth or going to prison. A dream where we are suddenly pulled out of bed by an invisible force and dragged around the house, the dream lasts only a few seconds, so there is no time to reach any destination. Even if we haven’t had the dream ourselves, it's still already there, we all have this exact scene within us. So, it’s a familiar, terrible unknown that works.
And this all makes the scene very powerful.
In the sequel the scene is repeated, except this time without any subtlety they show you what the exact intent of the force is. It wants to drag you into the cellar. That’s… That’s…

Who the fuck cares?
And that’s also the same reason why you don’t show that the bad being is a rubber faced gargoyle, or whatever. It’s the unknown lurking out of sight, it's the endless sinister possibility, which tickles the brain, not some boring ass-troll.

Never listen to Steven Spielberg.
