Hello, all

New on the Board...thought I'd offer introductions and beg for mercy, just to get all of that out of the way beforehand.
So, here we go...

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I'm a full-time college student. Primary interests include reading incessantly, playing Go, pretending to be a writer, and getting beat up for fun.

2. Where are you from?
American South. The Buckle of the Bible-Belt. Don't I sound thrilled?

3. Who is your favorite author?
Long list. Those around the top are: H.P. Lovecraft, Jack Kerouac, William S. Burroughs, William Gibson, and Robert Heinlein.

4. What are your favorite films?
The Evil Dead trilogy, Cemetery Man, Naked Lunch, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, anything by Akira Kurosawa.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
I didn't have any music, come to think of it. Believe it or not, I got married in a cemetery.

6. At your funeral?
Tom Waits "Innocent When You Dream"

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
I don't.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
Cremation, all the way.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Hurm...anything I can fight in. Street clothes are usually black fatigues, plain T-shirt, some kind of long over-shirt, boots or Chucks, depending on the weather.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Believing what people tell me.

11. What's your favorite band?
Assemblage 23.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I'm recently back in college. I am majoring in English (Creative Writing), and Philosophy. I am also studying Anthropology, Ethnobotany, and Egyptology.

13. Why did you join?
Looking for good company. Or bad company with good conversation.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Male, or so I'm told.

I guess that's the skinny, as it were. I look forward to getting to know some people.

Ta,

-Roland-

Are you sure Robert Browning and/or Stephen King aren't on that list? Welcome to the family Roland!

<grin> Well, you know...they're somewhere on the list, just not topmost. The name was the first thing to come to mind. Thanks for the welcome.

It's an ever changing toss-up between The Seven Samurai and Yojimbo for my very favorite. As a judo person, Sugata Sanshiro is also one I like very much.

What do you think of `Hidden Fortress` I love that film, and of course `Rashamon` and `Throne of Blood` ?

I like all three of those a great deal, especially Throne of Blood. Have you ever read Rashamon? It's a tiny collection, but the work is excellent.

If you don't mind my asking, what "timendi causa est nescir" mean?
