Come on guys, it 'aint that bad here.

I'm happier talking to a few good people (present company) rather than trying to juggle a huge collection of random, faceless and largely unreliable nobodies.

On one of my other sites, Lush, I had the beginnings of a 'role playing' group (yes, I'm talking cybersex in all its glory) - it was great to start off with but we made the mistake of opening it up to everybody. Lush is an adult site with chat rooms. You can make these chat rooms invite only or password protected to keep random undesirables out. Now Lush is an adult site so much of our role play was not for anyone who was easily offended or prudish. There are of course rules there and moderation is tight, ensuring that everyone is respected.

There are goths at Lush but it is a whole other level compared to this, on the face of it, very wholesome, safe and rather conservative site. The great thing about being here is that even old farts like me can interact with goths of all ages whereas that other site was limited to people 16 years or over, as it should be.

There used to be a fairly cool board for crafters called Punkrock Domestics but I was unable to join for some reason and it seems to have died.

There was also a deathrock board somewhere but it never quite took off.

Oh my heart soars when I read your words!
All of you, each of you .. you're such utter Loves <3
I smile, I laugh, I agree!
Damn it, you people ignite a spark of hope and are generating a yearning.
LOL ~ that's dangerous o.O
I'll do my thing whereby I'll go running at people, seeking friendship, comfort ..
understanding. Then I'll get bitten yet again and limp back to the safety of my tomb .. lick my wounds and chastise myself for the try, because yet again they've shown me that they're monsters that wear pretty masks.

Still .. it's human to seek connection, I am only human ...

The best place that I ever found was a forum I joined back in Jan 2004.
I've had depression & anxiety issues since teens, following my beloved Grandma's passing in '03 a light went out inside of me. I kinda had a breakdown. Desperate, I typed 'depression' into Google and found la forum.
I'd never seen a forum, had zero clue wtf I was doing, just pottered about
After a short time I was asked to be a moderator, so for the next couple of years that was my gig. The forum was for those who suffer from depression, anxiety & mood disorders ... the whole shebang covered.

Folks .. I tell ya .. that place was HOME <3
The community was worldwide, each member had varying degrees of MH issues, from depression through to schizophrenia, anxiety to PTSD ...
They had it all ~ but they gave their all <3
As moderators were UK & US based time zones were covered, there was always a mod around and members hung out constantly .. not always in need of aid, often just socializing, having some much needed laughs and receiving restbite.
Beautiful souls. They had on line decorum lol .. a something we have perceived that many net users are devoid of! If they disagreed, they discussed!
Empathy, tolerance and good manners, they made that place a safe home from the hardships, stigmas and judgments of society out there.

Since the forum stopped I've always harboured thoughts of refinding ..
Alas, there has to date never been a place like it ..
You'll notice that I said 'to date'
For I'll never give up! People are what makes a forum a home.
Sure you can paint a house pretty and furnish it with finery ..
But walls need laughter, voices, shared stories!

So the entire point of this essay offered?
Well, you are THIS forum.
You are its voices, currently its story.
So if we want to make a house a home lmaoo we are capable!

OMG exactly!
We are not wearing masks. These masks are our art. We reflect back on society as a whole that which it hides.
If anything I am depressed because the world and society of humans is so base animal and thoughtless, in their primate politics, and its heap of whatever resources that help their DNA survive to the next generation
That anyone creative or 'mental ill' or punk or goth or even hip hop. Is trying to transcend the base raw consumer survival politics. ....

Exfuckingzactly my friend
These days I'm no longer 'depressed' because tiny white pills from la doctor tend to keep that in check .. I do however feel awake .. totally awake, and once your eyes have been opened, you can never seem to shut them again.

That hits home. That's basically what happened to me and why I don't bother much these days.

Oh i hear you just got a nice knife in the back in another forum because I uttered a opinion that they do not care for.
You don't agree with us ? BANNED. I was there for years.

On the other hand, I am defiantly going to have one of my vampire characters use the line,"they're monsters that wear pretty masks."
I think I will have that made into a tee-shirt.

Oh I know Amelia sort of. She was part of the Cambodia house.
I used to see them at science fiction conventions and commander salamander.
I so desperately wanted them to pay attention to me. But I was mostly ignored.
