Anyone with an interest in anatomy should watch "Anatomy for Beginners".

[Not recommended viewing while eating lunch (learnt that from experience).]

What is impressive is that they could still maintain such a decent society with all the emphasis on experimentation. They are original and respectful. Usually experimentation relates to overt sexuality as seen in some countries in Europe. As an artist (semi-artist in my case) their fearless experimentation in spite of stereotypes is fascinating.
I think that maybe since Japan's art culture is not restricted by stereotypes and religious fervor as in America, experimentation is encouraged. But that is politics. Also, it'd be nice if you can post some of your art. If you will draw it, I will come and post also.

You're telling me. What is more surprising is that I found a pretty medigoth.

When I start shooting this new stop-motion, I’ll be sure to post plenty of production stills! I hope to have a website up by March with plenty of clips and such.

The funny thing about Japan is, it's split in it's extremes. People there are either highly conservative or highly artistic.

Looking forward to it. Always nice to see the worldview of a different artist.

It's not like the Last Samurai though! The highly conservative don't impose their standards on the others like in a country I live in.
I want to visit Japan someday. Also, Sony is based there, so that's a big plus.

You know, I am actually going to a fancy dress party as a lesbian pirate.

I'm so glad I have less than two days of school left this year. I'm more grateful for the time off than Xmas.

It's thursday evening here. I have a history essay to do...anyone care to tell me whether Italy was unificated due to Cavour's diplomancy or foreign help?

Including factors such as Cav's interests in Piedmont, Napoloeon the Third & Garibaldi.

The fun never stops with me.

That made me laugh out loud.

I did a Raku firing of a pot I made in art today. Part of it broke off ::sad:: But, it still looks interesting.

I am reglazing the other pot I did. It looks terrible, just terrible.

Damn, I've been spelling Napoleon wrong. I'll have to tippex out my essay now.

Ugh I keep playing with my nose stud. I really shouldn't because if I fiddle with it too much, the hole hurts.

Ooh that didn't sound right. 0_0

You do not know that all of anatomy and physiology is extraneous? Patients do not care if you have a medical degree.

When I tell them that I have valuable experience in Trauma Center for the Wii, which is second only to the Blue Gene program, they cry tears of relief. They even get closer to their family as they kiss and hug them fiercely before I operate on the person.

However, it does have some practices which are used in ER situations. I like it.

So, I just printed a homework my sister was doing, and I had the opportunity to read part of it.
It's supposed to be a small autobiography, and one of the questions she had to answer is "Who's the Person I Admire."
I have to share what she wrote; it melts my heart.

I admire my brother because he is different and he is not afraid or embarrassed for being different. You would say he is not normal, but I think that nobody is normal. I like the fact that he likes to think beyond other people’s normal minds, he is very intelligent, when he sets a goal he always reach it, etc. He is a great person, he is like my father, intelligent, hard-worker, stubborn but a really good person, he is also a gentleman. I love and admire my brother because he doesn’t care what others think of him, he is not afraid to be himself.

Aww, siblingly love . I could write almost the same things about my own sister!

Knightmare - I watched Anatomy for Beginners partly out of pure interest, and partly because it was recommended for medical students. Although it certainly isn't my cup to tea to go flaying a corpse and then playing around with its muscle movements (and brain), it definitely put a new perspective on how I see the human body.

Hi Cicero,
Hopefully, you understood I was attempting to be humorous.

The Wii isn't that good, it's just another game system. Blue Gene is one of the most advanced computers in the world, as it can simulate protein interaction, etc. The Wii is just a cut-em up simulation (with some real E.R. practices). If my only experience was the Wii, I'd be in jail.

Aren't you used to brains and organs? Do you like horror? Watching Night of the Evil Dead is practically a violent anatomy lesson.

Aaah, I get it now. I'd never ever in my life heard of Blue Gene or the Wii, haha. I'll admit I was a little confused... Alright, extremely confused.

I'm not opposed to the brains and organs, but the thought of being quite so... rough with them is something I'd like to avoid. The part where Dr Gunther von Hagens saws open the skull and then has to really squish about to keep the brain inside was very much a lesson of "what NOT to do to a live patient".

My bad, my stereotype of med student=nerd kicked in.
Anyways, you can't reach me from Australia. You can try though.
What are you going to do? Fly with Mary Poppins with your umbrella? (look nice in the pic post btw) (maniacal laughter)

Anyways, so I guess you are going to be a neurologist instead of neurosurgeon since you don't like handling brains?

I think you've misunderstood slightly, haha. I've never been 'grossed out' by touching organs and things. I've even had to wash out the half rotten brain and eyes of a dead flamingo I found so I could use its skull for my bone collection. I just don't like the idea of handling living tissue quite so violently as the corpse's was handled in Anatomy for Beginners - it makes me think of my own brain and how it would feel to have my skull sawn open. Cutting into bodies and heads for the sake of healing them is a whole other matter. It's neurosurgery, not zombie-hood!

That is so cute!

Its moments like that, that make me want to stop throttling my sibling. Then i rememeber that he ran off with my Dimmu Borgir albums, and i keep throttling him...just til he punches back.

Oh, ok.
But sometimes, you do have to use relatively "violent" methods in neurosurgery, especially in emergencies.

So I guess you are against having zombies working in the hospital. Still, they're really fast in opening skulls.

Also, Persephone, if your sibling took your Dimmu Burgur albums the whole family shoud come and hit him. Actually, I never heard of them. I assume they're from your region

Do you realize how many seniors (or the equivalent to the year before college) are there in this boards?
The second half of the year 2007 will be an incredibly interesting year in Gnet, watching how we will eventually apply what we learn in college in casual conversations.
With so many people scattering all around all the options of learning, I'm sure there will be more subjects to talk about and much more varied oppinions.
Promise me we're going to make room for staying in Gnet despite all the college work.
