Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

Those are actually called Ballet Boots. They're a type of fetish boot, and are almost impossible to walk in.

Yep. I borrowed a set for a burlesque show once. they made dancing really, really difficult, and I do not think that they were made with any mundane use in mind *snicker*.
But, if you want a pair, they are cool and sexy as fuck. I would recommend practicing waling en pointe for a while to build up arch and leg strength and muscle memory so you don't bust your ass.

Seriously....they're so hot.
So I see they're actually on pointe, instead of somewhat on the pointe area. Still dead sexy.

I bet! lol.
I'm still tempted to buy a pair.
They look awesome.
Tell me, you do burlesque for a living?
Where do you live?
Because that just sounds like an awesome life style.

Noooo, I do research for a living. It funds my dance addiction. I do Middle Eastern/Belly Dance, Highland Dance, and the occasional Burlesque on the side- and the Burlesque was about 5 years back in Memphis although I get talked into it on occasion.
One Burlesque dancer you may like is Bettina May. She wears the aforementioned kick-ass-sexy shoes and is just a doll- sweet and gorgeous! She's based in Canada and lives the life.

Thanks!!
I love burlesque...I can't dance, but I love watching it.
It is just such a sexy-classy-trashy mix, and is awesome.
Grrr.

The idea of the ballet boots and ballet heels is based on what is called pridicament bondage. You are meant to bind someone with their hands above their head and a spreader bar between their ankles and the boots on. That way they have to choose between hanging from their arms or trying to stand on the tips of their toes, both of which become excrutiatingly uncomfortable very fast.
Fabulous fun for the person who is watching.

Do you do it with your significant other just for fun?

If you buy those, I'd be really careful. There was a talk on ballet shoes in here before, and I know from a friend that if you try walking en pointe without proper practice and training, you can just snap your ankle.

No. She isn't into the more hardcore types of bondage. We do some simple shibari rope work, though. I did some Dominatrix work while I was at University and I had a client who was very into predicament bondage.

Absolutely correct. They really aren't made for walking at all. I imagine that a dancer who was used to pointe work could use them as such, but the rest of us are better off wearing them whilst sitting or lying down.

Oh shit... look at that... that sure looks painful. *backs away slowly* I'd never wear such a thing - I've always thought it was hard enough to walk in my highest high heeled shoes, but they're nothing compared to this...

To be perfectly honest, I think they look kinda dumb anyway...I think the look of someone walking en pointe is silly unless they're performing.

Eh...I don't think it's that silly.
It would be cool if someone had on a ballerina type of goth-loli outfit on, twirling down the street...
That would make my day.

Yes, they may be en pointe, but the do not force an arch or half-pointe.
