Glimpses: The Best Short Stories of Rick Hautala has been discounted 25% off retail price for a limited time: http://www.darkregions.com/books/gli...f-rick-hautala

The 150 Signed and Numbered Limited Hardcover edition is still available and is signed by Rick Hautala, bound in black leatherette, features eight original interior illustrations by artist Glenn Chadbourne, colored book ribbon and is stamped in hot foil with the book title and author name on the spine of the book.

Description

One of 2012’s HWA Lifetime Achievement Award Winners, Rick Hautala has a writing career that spans more than three decades. From Moondeath, his first novel published in 1980, to the republication of his best-selling novel The White Room (DRP, 2012) and his forthcoming “Little Brothers” novella Indian Summer (CD Publications, 2012), his novels and short stories have entertained millions of readers around the world.

Now comes Glimpses, a career-spanning “best of” collection that brings together twenty-four stories, including eight from each of Rick’s critically-acclaimed collections Bedbugs and Occasional Demons, and eight previously uncollected stories.

And Glimpses delivers what it promises—quick glimpses into the deepest shadows of our lives, around unfamiliar corners of streets we think we know, and down the darkest alleys of strange cities where readers will have to face their worst fears and their most unnerving nightmares.

Of course, Glimpses wouldn’t be a Rick Hautala collection if it didn’t included gorgeous original artwork—a wraparound cover and eight new illustrations—from award-winning artist Glenn Chadbourne.

So whether it’s in a haunted schoolhouse or an abandoned lighthouse, an iron bridge that spans a fast-moving river or a World War I battlefield, prepare yourself because you never know what you may catch a glimpse of … and by then, it may already be too late.

Glimpses: The Best Short Stories of Rick Hautala is now in stock in signed and limited hardcover editions. Only 5x signed hardcover editions (as of writing this) remain for customer purchase: http://www.darkregions.com/books/gli...f-rick-hautala

Rick Hautala passed away just a couple weeks ago. Glimpses is a collection of some of the best short fiction the author ever wrote, and it also features eight interior illustrations and wrap-around color cover artwork by artist Glenn Chadbourne. To our knowledge, Glimpses is the last hardcover book that author Rick Hautala ever signed.

Thank you to all of our readers who have ordered the book so far and please keep supporting Rick's fiction!

Fast-paced and entertaining hardboiled fiction from one of the rising stars in the industry. To initially be available in a signed deluxe hardcover edition limited to twenty-six signed and numbered copies worldwide then as a Dark Regions Double trade paperback with The Blue Heron by Gene O'Neill.

Description

Jake Mercer’s life is spiraling out of control. As a criminal profiler and one of the senior homicide investigators in the Oakland Police Department, he’s spent the last twenty-five years getting into the heads of killers trying to understand the way they think. He’s the best at what he does but constantly playing in the minds of madmen carries a heavy price, leaving Jake an out of shape, alcoholic loner suspended from active duty.

The murders have started.

Another serial killer is prowling the streets now, a lunatic who’s making a game of nailing retired Catholic priests to trees and bridges and hydro poles around the city. Torture and murder isn’t enough, they’re experimenting with the bodies to further whatever diabolical plan only they seem to know.

The experiments have begun.

Broken down or not, Lieutenant Mercer might be the only man who can catch this killer before the city starts to panic. Back on duty and trying his best to stay out of the bottle, Jake finds himself teamed up with two rookie detectives in what will be his most difficult case ever, and possibly his last...

Available for preorder on Tuesday, April 30th to DarkRegions.com.

Holes for Faces by Ramsey Campbell

Hey folks, I'm sending this mass-forum message to inform you of a new collection from an author that I admire and respect greatly. Truthfully, Ramsey is one of the few authors that can still genuinely scare me. I like that. He also happens to be one of the finest dark fiction writers we have.

Find the information below. Holes for Faces is launching on Tuesday, August 13th on DarkRegions.com, Amazon.com and Amazon Kindle. Signed limited edition hardcover preorders include trade paperback and/or ebook editions.

for immediate release:

Holes For Faces by Ramsey Campbell
Launching Tuesday, August 13th on DarkRegions.com, Amazon.com and Amazon Kindle

One of the most respected living horror writers in the world, Campbell has more awards for his horror tales than any other author, and "is likely to be remembered as the leading horror writer of our generation," according to S.T. Joshi. One of the heirs apparent to early-twentieth-century American author H. P. Lovecraft, Campbell's horror stories are often set in contemporary Merseyside, England, his own hometown, and involve quite ordinary characters. His unsettling, dreamlike prose, however, transforms his work into very effective horror fiction.

Holes for Faces collects many of his best tales from the first decade of this century. An attempt to avoid a haunted house leads into worse danger. The announcements at a railway station deal with stranger things than trains, and is that another railway station in the distance or a different kind of destination? A childhood game becomes a source of terror, and so does a radio quiz show. Even Christmas decorations may not be trusted, and beware of that Advent calendar! A hotel provides amenities you mightn’t welcome, and a visit to a tourist attraction attracts an uninvited follower. A train journey may never end, unless it already has, and a visit to a hospital brings back more than memories. A myth about a horror film has unwanted consequences. There are angels you mightn’t want to see too clearly, if that’s what they are. And you’ll have to decide if it’s better to stay in the dark or see what’s waiting there. You’ll find uncanny dread in these pages, and disquiet and terror, but also poignancy and comedy of paranoia. One theme runs through all the stories: youth and age.

Praise for Holes for Faces

"Consider Holes for Faces another textbook by one of our best practitioners, an essential addition to the bookshelves of horror readers and writers alike." - FEAR NET

"Holes For Faces is a must-read for Ramsey Campbell fans, collecting his best stories from this fledgling century we find ourselves in. And if you’ve not been introduced to Mr. Campbell yet, then I can think of no better place to start." - The Occult Detective (author Bob Freeman)

"...a superb collection of stories of the strange and the dark that I’m sure fans of the genre will love. I know I did." - The Horrifically Horrifying Horror Blog

"The title story, “Holes for Faces,” is a tale of sliding realities in which our protagonist sees a very different world around him. He becomes aware of the horrors that no one else can see. These stories reflect Campbell’s ability to take normal and tilt it just far enough to create fear. This could happen to you he reminds us and that is the greatest fear of all." - Horror Novel Reviews

"...as the reader progresses into the tales, the tension increases as the stories become more sinister and, well, down right creepy in that some of the stories make us question our innermost selves. In reading "Holes For Faces", which I have enjoyed immensely, I discovered that my personal favorites are "Getting It Wrong," "Holes for Faces", and "The Rounds"." - Widescreen Online Review

How do these beings with holes for faces give head? I don't understand.

The only thing so far correct about this book is the third story. Hell the title is enough. Getting It Wrong. Close book. Nothing more to see here.

Clearly this book needs more content about getting head.

In a little under a month we will be launching the Kickstarter campaign for Joe R. Lansdale's Black Labyrinth Book II illustrated by artist Santiago Caruso. The campaign will enable us to make the book an unforgettable work of art, from Joe R. Lansdale's writing, Santiago's provocative illustrations, a new level of interior design and will enable us to have the book printed at a new printer based in the Portland area with an offset press. If the Kickstarter is a success the project will be fully funded, enabling us to have the book in stock and available in all editions on publication date of November 11th, 2014.

The more successful the campaign, the more enhanced the book will become. For example: Santiago Caruso is ready to create 4 B&W interior illustrations and one full color book cover for Book II (as he did with Book I: The Walls of the Castle by Tom Piccirilli) but if we reach our first stretch goal in the Kickstarter campaign, Santiago will create 8 color interior illustrations, one full color book cover, illustrated signature sheets and will add some nice touches for the design itself (chapter headings, footers etc.).

Kickstarter contributors will receive/be shipped the book at least one month in advance of publication date, including signed limited edition hardcovers. They will also be eligible for exclusive awards such as having a conversation with author Joe R. Lansdale, a self-portrait of themselves illustrated by Santiago Caruso, having a short story written by Joe R. Lansdale based on one of their ideas and much more. Every contributor will be acknowledged on the upcoming BlackLabyrinthBooks.com website and some will be immortalized in the book itself.

Contributors will also be part of the journey during the creation of Black Labyrinth Book II. They will be updated with information from sketches of the book's art, updates on Joe's manuscript all the way to the production of the signed limited edition hardcovers.

For more information on the upcoming Kickstarter campaign or Black Labyrinth, please visit our Facebook countdown event at: https://www.facebook.com/events/237621056390717

We are excited to pour all of our creative efforts into this project, and hope you join us during the campaign.

Lansdale will be launching on DarkRegions.com, Amazon.com and Amazon Kindle on Tuesday, December 3rd in ebook, trade paperback and signed limited edition hardcovers. The signed limited edition hardcovers of Hot in December will feature up to 5 interior illustrations by artist Erin Wells not offered in any other edition: http://www.darkregions.com/books/hot...joe-r-lansdale

Description

A psychological thriller in the vein of Dean Koontz and Lee Child, Hot in December is a fast-paced and entertaining novella from the author of Edge of Dark Water, The Bottoms and the Hap and Leonard novel series.

One death is only the beginning for Tom and his wife Kelly who witness a fast-driving car killing their innocent neighbor in the street.

Tom describes the driver to the police, but there is something he didn't anticipate: the driver belongs to a powerful criminal gang in East Texas.

The criminals make Ron and his family a target, abducting his wife Kelly and threatening his daughter. Now Tom must look to old war comrades for help in a brutal and unforgiving struggle to rescue his wife and bring justice to the notorious gang.

We have some exciting news: Joe Lansdale has written a new afterword for Hot in December that will be included as an exclusive in signed limited edition hardcovers of the book! Don't forget that you can save 33% on the preorder price with coupon code HAPPYNEWYEAR2014 by ordering the book on our website at: http://www.darkregions.com/books/hot...joe-r-lansdale

"Hot in December is classic Lansdale: A rough, violent tale of blood and revenge told in his own self’s one-of-a-kind voice. Highly recommended." - Horror World

"(Hot in December) is written and sized to be read briskly, with little stop – perfect for long road trips or waits – and Lansdale is brutal in shoving the reader deeper and deeper into Tom’s troubles. By the time you hit page 3, you will keep turning until the final page." - Bloody Disgusting

"The author doesn’t hold back on the violence or the humor he injects into the direst of situations. Like all stories by Mr. Lansdale, the reader is captured in the first couple of pages and quickly finds himself literally compelled to finish the story come hell or high water." - Hellnotes

"...the story never stalls and the action keeps on coming. There is plenty of Lansdale’s trademark, off-beat humour and the violence is visceral and explosive." - Crime Fiction Lover

"Stellar character development, riveting twists and a disregard for any all and all stereotypical rules, Hot in December is one of 2013's true treasures." - Horror Novel Reviews
