I think it's only sexual if you look at it in a sexual light. I wear Lol*ta all the time, mostly when I feel nostalgic and want my child-like innocence back, and I don't view it as sexual. As for the term Lol*ta, who knows? The creater may have just liked the name.

You can say that.
But then again, I can say that about anything.
Handcuffs are only sexual if you make them.
Nudity is only sexual if you make it.
However, anything can be anything if in your mind or in your opinion they are that thing.
Still, societal wise, nudity is usually sexual, as are handcuffs and even L.olita.

Still, Lol*ta is supposed to be Victorian era children's clothes, with little frills and petticoats. You'd have to be pretty messed up to think that's sexual. Society is screwed up.

Yeah, thinking that a fashion style based upon the term meaning a sexually attractive child/adolescent female could be remotely sexual is such a horrifying view. Whatever happened to polite society, eh?

YOU don't have to view it as sexual, but it's stupid to say that it's completely non-sexual.

And no, the creator didn't just "like the name."

The origin of the term '******' is because Nabokov's friend Ita Garuchov had always been amused by the idea of child prostitution. The entire book was an oblique inside joke.

You do realize the whole subcontext of the idea of child innocence in inherently and directly connected to sexuality?

You're talking about admiration of the Victorian era and you think THIS society is fucked up?!

People, please find some information before you shout out loud your opinion.

Some translated articles written by the creator of Lo-l-ita:

http://www.lerman.biz/asagao/gothic_******/novala.html
http://www.curiosityvalentine.com/archive.html

If you can still see something sensual in it, prove it.

By the way, there IS a style of sensualy-dressed lol-ita, but the majority of it is just a few lonely teenagers dressed up like little glamorous dolls to escape the almost-impossible-to-bare Japanese day-to-day life and it's pressure.
It is explained quite well here:

It doesn't matter WHY people dress l0lita.
Doesn't make it any less sexual.

What in any of that hints at it not being sexual? The more of it I read the more solidified my opinion of ****** became

Loli being smexy/not smexy, this is something to think about either way. Warning: This might horribly depress and/or enrage you.

^ Well, perhaps you ought to read back a couple of pages.

Anyway... I don't really care about ******. It's expensive and ostentatious.

You have to take out the slash and number symbol because the mods aren't down with LJ.
