Now seeing these two pictures I have to agree there is a great number of similarities. Also seeing more photos of darlin grave I have to admit they do look like carbon copies except for some reason I cant get the fact out of my head that RC brings a more sexy, girlish feeling to the deathrock look (maybe its the color she blends into her look? or her poses?) I dont know, am I the only one who sees it?

I saw this... and I want it very, very much.

The downside is that there are no Alexander McQueen stores in Athens
[oh I almost forgot - I can't afford it anyway!] : p

I admire Honeythorn's makeup, but I'd never try it 'cause excessive makeup tends to make me resemble men trying to resemble women.

Good grief it's not THAT excessive! Haha, just liquid liner and a bit of shadow.
I find that the liner applicator with a pointy sponge nib to be easier than the brush types. I find the brush just too long and thin. Resting your elbow on something and starting with short light strokes right above/below the lashes is a good way to start if you're not used to wearing much liquid. Just don't rush and don't blink too soon after applying. Just sit there with one eye shut and fan your eye with your hand to help dry it.
A light, steady hand is what you're aiming to practise .
I also apply most of my eyeshadow BEFORE the liner and make touch ups and additions after the liner is dry.
A really really good pancake/solid eyeliner I often use for very fine work is Babe Cake by the brand Benefit ( you know, the one with the cute 50's pin up packaging ) I don't use the brush supplied with that though, I use a short thin artists watercolour brush . You just dip the brush in a bit of water, swirl it over the black or brown half of the liner to get a good coat on it, and apply. I also use a mix of brown and black on a just slightly damp brush to darken and shape my eyebrows a little better. You can add more brown or black to suit your colouring and hair that way so it's a good double use product IMO.

I didn't mean it was excessive on yourself. I wear a lot of product but aside from my liner it's not a noticeable thing. If I wear a lot of color on my eyelids, for example, I begin to look like Dr. Frankenfurter.
Sorry, didn't mean to come off like I thought you were done up like Mimi.

Oh ! Ok no no I wouldn't take offense if you thought it was excessive on me anyway haha!
Perhaps try paler colours if dark ones make you look too heavily done up? What colours do you use?
I'm really favouring pinks and deep purple/plum with white on the inner corners for myself right now.

Eh, I use a pale whitish sheen for my eyelids and then in the corners i'll use a bit of brown. Then under my eyebrows I'll throw in some white just to do that highlight shit they talk about. Bought a thing that comes with four different purples 'cause I've got green eyes but it just makes me look like I've been punched in the face.

You don't use all four purples at once do you? I have green eyes too and get away with purple just fine, but I only use a pale to mid purple on the whole lid ( plus a dab of white on the inner corners ) with a dark purple to shade in the outer corners and a little inside the socket crease.

Possibly the wrong thread but you're talking about it anyway. Honeythorn (I ask you since you seem rather knowledgeable in these matters) what eye colours would best suit a blue/grey eye which has a small amount of green in the centre? I'm not the best with make up and can't seem to find a decent colour that compliments my eyes

Since I don't have that eye colour I am no expert on the matter, but I have read that brown shades look good with blue eyes( or eyes with a lot of blue in them ) . You may get away with liacs, silvers and possibly certain shades of green also. Black of course suits most eye colours.
I'd say buy a cheapish ( seriously, don't splash out since this is an experiment of sorts ) pallete of eyeshadows containing a lot of different colours and try them on, one each day to see which suit you as base colours . Then when you have those colours, go through again and find colours to either blend with ( to shade ) or contrast your base.

I've often been advised to wear blue eyeshadow. I tried this and found I looked like a teenager let loose with her mothers collection of make up from the 80's. It was a very, very bad look. Thanks for the advice, I shall try it out and see what works best for me.

MissCheyenne,
I second trying out a cheap palette with lots of colors. If you have pinks or peach, try those out too. What is your skin tone like?

Skin tone? Er...I'm rather pale, pretty cool looking I suppose, if that makes sense. I do have a picture on my profile though that might not be the best picture to judge from.

With grayish blue you should aim for browns or blues, if you go for the blue then go for a navy or a steely blue, not a bright blue or a purple blue, that will help you avoid looking like you fell out of the eighties.

I'd just like to point out that a lot of us here fell out, quite literally, in the eighties anyways.

Brown does bring out the blue in eyes with any hint of them. Subtlety, though - just a little dusting in the socket is enough, unless you enjoy looking like a junkie.
