Upon digging up this thread, did you fail to realize the four or five posts exclaiming that this thread should die? Or are you just terribly fond of feigning ignorance?

This thread truly deserved to die.

Some would say the same about the writer.

Everyone here is a tool except me. If you want to be a tool, go right ahead. Wear black make up, cry a lot, cut your wrists a lot (but act like you don't), claim to be goth as much as possible, shop at hot-topic, or any other store that can fit your prepackaged sub-culture needs.

Next you have to remember, you're depressed, but whenever someone asks, deny it. That's what makes you an 'enigma' listen to bands that other goths listen to.

Read things such as: The Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost, every one of Edgar Allan Poe's short-stories and poems, read Oscar Wilde, and then work your way into romantic poets, and even a few more modern ones like Emily Dickinson.

Then try to talk in middle English with people who are gothic, never write about the fact that life isn't so bad; because it is so bad.

Pretend that by being identified as a goth it somehow has slingshot you into the intellectual elite, and that you have a more full perspective of life, your place in it, and others. Everyone else is a conformist, you of course are not, despite the fact you are wearing bondage pants, an anarchy beanie you baught at hot-topic and a fishnet shirt with a skimpy bra.

Oh and one more thing, you have to have an alias that is more goth like: "Broken Thorn," or "Crisscross Cutter."

Be punchy, be absolutely insane and outlandish but remain apathetic or nigh lethargic, don't get any sleep, avoid the sun, claim you're a vampire, masturbate with crosses, spit on babies, curse God, and claim to be an atheist.

These are just SOME of the stupid things you must do to be a goth.

Also, you must get a 'gothic' vocabulary.

Since most of your conversation is going to be based on depression, and morbid things, words you need to know:

Macabre, daunting, deplorable, masochistic, sadism, masticate, manumit, intolerable, suffering, extirpate, fleeting, sorrow, gore, anarchy, Beelzebub, Belial, Lucifer, Necronomican, Anarchy Cookbook.

Try to say these as well as other 'goth words' as much as possible, as fast as possible. Remember to use pronouns, articles, verbs, and coordinating conjunctions of course inbetween them...

For example:

A little madlib:

I feel (noun), it's pretty (adjective) outside. I wonder if (name of person) still (transitive verb) me.

Now since you're goth and not a normal human being this is about how you should fill it out:

I feel deplorable, it's pretty intolerable outside. I wonder if Tony still loathes me.

If you were normal:

I feel fine, it's pretty nice outside. I wonder if Tony still likes me.

Remember the NO G's of goth:

Gregarious, Glad, Glued, and Glory.

You are not social, you are not happy, you are not attentive, and you hate God! Remember that! Now 666 zieg heil! Let's go!

This is me:
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b3/xnguela/kk.jpg
Please note the natural-colored hair, the blue shirt, and the complete lack of makeup, black or otherwise. I haven't been to Hot Topic in over a year, and I haven't bought anything from there in three. I mostly shop at Target, or at a department store if I can afford it. I've never cut my wrists. I cut my hip once when my best friend shot himself, but I haven't done any substantial self-harm since.

That about covers the stereotypes you've listed... If you have more you want to try to stick to me, go ahead.

So you took one normal picture, am I supposed to be IMPRESSED? You cut yourself in the past, you shopped at hot-topic at one point. At one point I have had you all fucking pegged, you know it.

And yourself?

Weren't you the one in the black tank top in the picture post thread?

So you know who I was when I was 13. Big deal.

No? I know who you are now as well, you may not look the part, but you're still playing the part. It's like playing barbie without the dolls, you're still a tool.

The only reason this board in general does not like me and 'tolerates' me is because they know deep down I have 90% of you pegged. Of course 10% probably step around that stereotype, but it's one of the roads that 'goths' go down.

Still, I don't think I need to say much more. I have her pegged at least, and you when you were "13" as you put it.

How old are you now dear? Sixteen? Well it's not that far ahead, now is it?

Also, I wear grey and black almost exclusively, but it's not because I am depressed. It's because black and grey go with anything, and I HATE having to wear blues with blue, or red with red, I get frustrated as hell.

Dude. The only mastication going on in my life right now is happening to this tasty pot noodle.

PS. I don't have a heart.

I'm 20, but close. I don't think you have me pegged, but if it makes you feel better to stereotype a large group of strangers, go ahead. I'm 20 years old, I have my natural hair color, I don't wear much black, and I listen to Indy rock. I don't play any part at all, except that I belong to this forum.

But wait-- don't you belong here too?

Just out of idle curiosity, how old are you? Normally I'd try to deduce, but in your case I just can't.

You don't HAVE to wear blue with blue... you can wear red with blue!

Or green with red! Or black with blue! Or that particularly lovely shade of green that seems to go with everything...

The majority or my wardrobe can be put together in the dark and still look presentable once the lights are turned on. Basic, primary or neutral(ish) colors that all go together. The colors I really *don't* wear? Purple, turquoise, orange and certain shades of pink--they don't really look good on me (They do strange things to my skin tone...)

Black and grey are cool (I own a lot of that too), but I can't take too much in the way of monotony--that's why I'm always changing my appearance.

When I change my appearance, it's often by sculpting my body with muscle.

Like I can make my cheeks incredibly gaunt if I wanted to (but I'd have to lose a ton of weight, probably 30 pounds and lose muscle).

Still, I like to look plain and boring; because it throws people off.

Another trademark of goth is flamboyance, just wearing any old thing and trying to push it as an 'image' thing, when it's really because they are color-blind and have downs.

Also, I am 19, I'll be 20 in July.
