Who's the "un-gothiest" artist you listen to?

This being a Gothic website, I know most of you listen to music that is considered "Goth", such as Goth Rock, Metal and Emo (I know some of you would like to argue about Metal and Emo being Goth, and I completely agree, but it's not the point of this thread...).

But now I'm asking you, do you listen to an artist who doesn't sound Goth at all? I'm talking about cheery, happy music here. It could be a guilty pleasure, but it doesn't need to.

I'll start with Ai Otsuka. Yes, J-Pop. And I'm not even that much of an anime geek. If you're curious, check her out on Youtube. But she'll probably be extremely annoying to most of you.

Am I ashamed? Well, just a little :-P

This thread has happened many times before.

And what's that about metal and emo being goth?

If you mean listen to frequently...probably Duran Duran.

If once in a while counts...I guess Michael Jackson.

Not ashamed.

I'd say Eric Clapton, but he's probably more goth than Mystikal.

The ungothiest artist I listen to is, well, not an individual, but a band: Aqua.

Yes, I like Aqua... I admit it. Their music is so catchy, albeit it's extremely nonsensical and ridiculously bubbly.

Beat a dead horse. Anyway, I will second Clapton. I am so schizophrenic with my musical tastes.....lets see, Bubba Sparxx (only the Deliverance album) hmmmmmmmmmm Ani DeFranco, Stevie Ray Vahn, Metallica, Eve 6, Chris LeDoux, Garth Brooks.... are we happy yet?

I have incredibly diverse tastes so I'm about as far from goth as you can get with some of my music. I have, let's see, the entire discography of Aqua (The band that did Barbie Girl) and some Gordon Lightfoot, some Tracy Chapman, some Ani DiFranco, and then I have a lot of musical soundtracks.

Classic rock and grunge, plus some techno. Nirvana is one of my favorite bands and always will be, plus the reason I wanted to play the guitar in 4th grade. I'm a lefty too ^_^

Most of my music isn't gothic at all. The closest I get is so-called "gothic americana": 16 Horsepower, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, even Tom Waits.

The furthest I get is Tech N9ne, a lovely rapper and a complete dumbass.

And I am proud of it Stig Rossen, Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum!!

I'm pretty keen on Tiny Tim. I think I like the ukulele a lot more than the average shmoe, and I can't see any down side to a middle aged man squealing out perfect falsetto. What cold-hearted monster can resist a package like that?

I listen to Country Music. A lot of it. I suppose that counts as un-goth yeah? course I also listen to Japanese songs, classic rock, alternative rock, pop, metal (of various flavors), even a small handful of rap. I like all kinds of music, regardless of genre. If it's got a beat and makes me tap my foot, it's good music.

It also helps if I can sing along with it. Love doing that.

Eh, I hate pop music, but John Mayer is addictive. Maybe its because he came to his senses and started playing blues. Anyway, I do consider him pretty un-goth.
