No you don't because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about AND you're too fucking egotistical to see where you're wrong and continue to perpetuate your ignorance despite SEVERAL people trying to help you clear up your misunderstanding.
You... are a serious brat.

Easy there Kontan, don't get too worked up, he's not worth it.
As for you Wingweaver, I only pray wisdom finds you with age, because if it doesn't you are going to have a very tough life.

Joker, you're totally right.
Wingweaver, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have called you a poseur. You obviously know what you're talking about and I'm just jealous over how goth you are at such a young age.
*sigh*

Wingweaver: Nightwish, Epica, Draconian, Paradise Lost, bands like that are GothIC. However the Goth subculture is based around Goth Rock, which is a completely different genre.

Oh.. Okay... You're rite... My Dying Bride is great. So... http : //en. wikipedia .org/ wiki/ Gothic_ Metal# Music (of course without spaces) talks about goth/gothic metal... it says its a combination of goth rock and heavy metal... So does listening to it make you a goth, or am i really a confused metal head? (in the pics of the article, the goth metal singers seem of goth style...)
For Kontan: You can't fool me by that.

Gothic Rock really has no metal in it.
Well, I do have to acknowledge that are two bands that are clearly metal that are accepted in the goth subculture: Lacrimosa and Nosferatu.
Beats me what makes them special, but Nosferatu is quite cool.
But gothic rock has no metal in it. And really, gothic metal has nothing to do with goth. If you read the wikipedia you might have read an article in the Gothic Metal entry specifically about this; that gothic metal creates confusion about what goth is and that's why goths don't like it.

Gothic Metal takes more of the imagery and themes from Gothic Rock than the actual music. Listening to Gothic Metal doesn't make you a Goth, it would just make you a fan of Gothic Metal. Listening to Gothic Rock would make you a Goth. Don't let anyone criticise you for liking Gothic Metal though, to each his own.
Fields of the Nephilim are a bit of a mix between Gothic Rock and Heavy Metal musically, that's like a transitional period between Goth and Gothic Metal if you want to branch into Gothic Rock more.

Personally, I can't stand Gothic Rock, and Deathrock makes me want to decapitate myself with a rusty hacksaw.
I have a hard time putting a musical label on the Goth subculture, if you think about it, everything from EBM to Funeral Doom is associated with the one scene.
Also, to the OP, stop trying to label yourself, you like what you like, don't try to smash yourself into a box. I listen to everything from the Grateful Dead to Impaled Nazarene, and I have no clue what label to put on myself, nor do I want to know.

EBM and Funeral Doom aren't Goth.
EBM would be more happily placed in Techno or Electronica and Funeral Doom is a branch of Metal.

I know they're not Goth, but how many "Goth" clubs play EBM these days?

Plenty, but that's beside the point. It's probably confusing enough to hear me explaining what Goth music is without someone coming in and saying the complete opposite of what I am, don't muddy the waters here. Goth is Goth Rock, not EBM.

Meh, I guess. But judging by the OP's comments, I think you're fighting a losing battle...

See, Kontan? You've gotta act like it's humping a virgin when you've got a nine incher. You don't go in guns blazing, you take it slow for best results.
