Worth

So this one, I've been working on for about an hour, it's very lyrical, Some parts cliche, but that seems to be what I can do at the moment... Might turn parts into a song later, It's reference my "platform" on child abuse, if there is one thing I feel very strongly about over anything else, it's this. I think anyone who would intentionally cause harm to their children.... I can't even go there. It's wrong, everyone knows it, but until you've seen it affect a child, you'll never know exactly how heart-wrenching it is.

here we go.

Worth
Little girl, where do you go?
In your eyes I see a world I’ve never known .
Days on end of love you cannot feel
The urge to fight, your only sense that’s real.
Little boy, your shame is far too old
Your youth is like the purest grade of gold
Days of life fall through in grains of sand,
And who’s the one to guide with willing hands?
Little girl, I see your needs.
The hope inside you planted as a seed.
You know your world is not a place of love,
Waiting, you are patient like the dove.
Little boy, the cross you bear.
Make believe that something’s always there.
You want to prove your worth, if not a man,
This path is harsh and hard to understand.
Little Girl, Little Boy
Weathered and afraid,
That your lives turned out this way,
Little hearts, Little tears
You can fix it in the end,
Break the cycle and the trend.
Be who you never thought you could,
Keep that flicker left that’s good.
Learn love from all your pain
Suffer not in vain.
More than they ever showed you
Be whatever that you want to
Little Girl and Little Boy
You will know joy.

Why does this remind me of 'Hurt' by Johnny Cash? Yeah, I said it. Johnny Cash. Because the cover is a million times better than the original.

i think its the line that says "the only thing that's real"
I just noticed that myself. While I love NIN, I do agree that Johnny Cash's version seems more "touching" to me.
