Sweet Covers

Does anyone know any good metal or gothy or any other kinds of covers which are particularly horrorshow?

I gots this so far:
"Call Me" by Cadaveria
"Bela Lugosi's Dead" by Opera IX
"Maniac" by Carnival in Coal
"Jolene" by Queen Adreena
"Imagine" by A Perfect Circle
"I Want It That Way" by Dynamite Boy
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Tori Amos
"I Touch Myself" by Jack Off Jill
"No Time to Cry" by Cradle of Filth
"Phantom of the Opera" and "Walking in the Air" by Nightwish

I'm making a mixed CD of covers

i LOVE Imagine by A Perfect Circle!

do you like Muse? i know they aren't metal or gothy but if you like them...they've done really good covers! like Feeling Good originally done by Nina Simone! and they've done a few others!

i'd Recommend definatelly putting Marilyn Manson's cover of Sweet Dreams originally done by Annie Lennox!

Christian Death did such a good cover of Venus In Furs, originally by Velvet Underground.

Fozzy (Chris Jerichos band) do lots of metal covers, WASP, Scorpions, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Accept, and that's just one CD!

There's a site called Dogpile.com that lets you search for songs, and you normally get loads of covers. I've got almost 20 versions of Paint it black!

Oh, and I touch myself is an awesome song!

I've got the sweet dreams cover, but I held off on the Tainted love cover. I actually put the Coil cover of it on first, but I'm not sure if it fits.

The Shroud - "Red Over White" (great Siouxsie cover)
Switchblade Symphony - "Nightshift" (Siouxsie cover)
The Shroud - "The Passion of Lovers" (Bauhaus cover)

Thanks guys. I ended up running out of room on the CD, so I didn't get much else on. But what the hell: covers are fun.

You can always make Volume II.

Be sure to include "Cry Little Sister" by Carfax Abbey. It's a cover of the song from "Lost Boys" - that's classic horrorshow.

Skinny Puppy - Tainted Love

Tainted Love was orginally by The Ramones. Marilyn Manson and Pussycat Dolls also did a cover for that song.

Everyone's done a cover of tainted love. I had the Coil version on there, but took it off. Having a tainted love cover on a mix cd at all is just too...last year.

Excuse me?

You mean Marc Almond's band Soft Cell, don't you? I'm not quite sure how you got them mixed up, but remember that everyone and their mother covered that song, a Soft Cell song.

Covers? Bryan Ferry (former Roxy Music) alone has covered over 50!

I used to collect versions of Helter Skelter (Aerosmith, Banshees, U2) and didn't even like the Beatles' original (still think Aerosmiths' is the best).

I like original covers (I admit, MM doesn't just imitate), not imitations.

Switchblade Symphony's version of the Banshees "Nightshift", or Johnny Cash's cover of U2's "One", or of NIN's "Hurt"...

How many covers are there of "Love Will Tear Us Apart"? Gazillions, of which, no more tha a couple do not suck.

God, there's too many.
There's the old schooly ones:
Siouxsie and the Banshees "Dear Prudence"
Bauhaus: "Ziggy Stardust" and "Telegram Sam"
Nine Inch Nails has two amazing covers: "Dead Souls", originally by Joy Division, and "Metal" by Gary Numan.
Tori Amos' cover "Losing My Religion" is intense, as is her cover of Slayer's "Raining Blood"

(not really goth, but...: )
Lou Barlow did an amazingly melancholy version of "Round and Round" by ratt.
Nouvelle Vague does an amazing loungy cover of many great old songs -- Marianne by the Sisters and A Forest by the Cure are particularly creepy. I dig. Secretboy seal of approval.
Nina Gordon (of Veruca Salt) does a great cover of Straight Outa Compton which is to be heard to be believed.

I'm out.

Nouvelle Vague....
Completely fabulous album. Who'd have thought Too Drunk Too Fuck could be sung in Bossa Nova style?
In a Manner Of Speaking my favourite still.
