Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Need some more music...
I listen to a lot of stuff that's kind of New-Age-ish lately, like Enigma, Faith and the Muse, and Rhea's Obsession. I like music that combines new age and ethereal elements with some electro and hard rock/metal.
I'd like to hear more music along those lines. Any suggestions?

Loreena McKennitt is one of my favorite artists of all time.
As for electronica-ish musique...try Tori Amos. She's one hot singer.

Mmmmm Bjork - I agree. I'm not terribly familiar with Loreena but Tori always bored me to tears. Bjork is not the best technical singer by any means but she uses what she has with a quirky flair that is entertaining and suprisingly moving.

Thanks, I know Deep Forest from vague childhood memories(The song Deep Forest in particular, I think I remember the video of some african tribal guys with a drum or something), I remember there were a few other New Age bands in the 90s, they sound a bit like Enigma.
ALso, one of their songs, it begins with Sweet, I can't tell the rest because Winamp won't extend it's blasted playlist video, was sampled for a dance tune called Komodo, and also took some melodies from. I'm quite glad now, as I liked those bits of the song but still don't very much like Dance music :P Even if that was an almost decent dance track compared to most.

I tried the first three and I quite liked them, but I'm looking for something "Heavier", and I don't necessarily mean with heavy guitars, just with more stuff going on.

Tori Amos...if you're looking for something completely different than normal with wacky songs. I recommend her album Under The Pink and To Venus and Back. Bjork is also really amazing...

Alright, my turn. Since there's already a thread for it.
Any suggestions for me. Something like Cruxshadows, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Deftones, Conjure One, Decoded Feedback, and Coldplay music. Slow and electronic. Hell, even something fast and electronic will do. I like Train by Goldfrapp. That kind of music is good too. Not Bjork, though, I already have that.
Any suggestions?

May I suggest Samhain. Glenn Danzig's band after this Misfits. They arnt as lightning fast as the Misfits and some songs even have that bit of new-agey etheral stuff. Anything on the albums 'Initium' , 'Unholy Passion' , or 'November-Coming-Fire' should be to your liking... I hope. Hah.

Since you said ethereal, I'm suprised no one suggested the Cocteau Twins. Well, I am. Right now. Cocteau Twins.

Do you have the soundtrack to QOTD?
I like most of the music on there, except for a song called 'Body Crumbles'.
Fischerspooner are pretty good, as well.
Have you heard of Cyberdog? It's some group one of my friends likes.

I recommend Ascension of the Watchers. They're a side-project of ambient metal by Burton Bell, the vocalist for Fear Factory. Anyway, they may be to your liking.

I'd suggest Angels & Agony, Clan of Xymox, The Faint (they're kind of a love 'em or hate 'em type band), Wolfsheim, Assemblage 23, Haujobb, S.I.T.D (Shadows In The Dark), Diary of Dreams, Fischerspooner and maybe even some De/Vision (earlier stuff) and some Iris. I'm not sure about those last two but I like them...
