You can't tell people that Satanism has nothing to do with Satan. That just isn't true-- most true Satanists use the Christian Satan as a metaphor for the perfect or ideal being. Occult Satanists, however, are those that most people think about when they hear the word "Satanist" or "occultist" and have very much to do with Satan.

One way to get it across to people- tell them to do some research. That's what I did when I wrote a paper a few semesters ago for a class called Religions of the World on Satanism. I got myself a copy of the Satanic Bible and actually sat down and read it. Nothing like info as a cure for ignorance.

Lucifer was not just a fallen seraphim. He was the highest of the Archangels and the most beloved of God. Besides in Latin the name Lucifer is basically bringer of light.

Even though I'm a Christian,I don't have a problem with real Satanists that aren't just in there since it's "in" but are really convinced with its principles and beliefs.But I get really pissed off by the people who claim to be Satanists and start running around cemetries,destroying everything,and give real satanists a bad reputation.

No one decides my fate other than me. I pretty much take the working parts of religions and mash them together into my own. I do wear a pentacle. But I'm so sick of all the people who ask me if I'm a satanist I've started hiding it under my shirt. I don't mind religions, as long as they don't advertise how everyone else is going to hell or promote ignorance. Also, Hollywood can start getting some facts right and stop making paganism look bad.
