You're attracted to death and blood and dying, and want to get a doctorate in medicine? Just remember, a REALLY good doctor wouldn't be getting blood all over himself. Plus, most people don't fancy having their table leg be an ACTUAL leg, so stay the hell out of any sawmills you run across!

Welcome to the board!

As is required, I simply must direct you to the music forums. Sorry, I really don't care what you listen to, but it'll save you some harassment if you at least know some goth music.

Welcome to the boards.

Haha, I can't see him liking The Sisters, perhaps Christian Death? And nowhere did I ever mention raining fire *eases flamethrower behind back*

Just kidding, Obsidian, you won't have to worry about flames from me. Not about your taste at least.

Hey cool what part in cali?

Oh, I love cradle of filth, but there are better black metal bands out there, no offence to dani. I've seen them live, they're fun, but still. If you want something like them but harder und scarier, check out Anorexia Nervosa, Gorgoroth, Gotherfall if you manage to get a hold of some of their music, Graveworm, and for something almost as mainstream, Dimmu Borgir (Demon burger ^_^)

You might get flamed for the music taste but welcome to the boards anyway.

You'd be surprised, I have both Sisters of Mercy's entire discography and Cradle's. ^_^

Well, got to say, this is the best fucking welcome anyone has ever given me anywhere. But what to expect from all of you. But ya, i mostly listen to Cradle of Filth as the area where I live (Bakersfield) is almost run down with RAP (Retards Attempting Poetry) and it took me 3 hours and 5 stores to find Thornography. Hit me up on messenger or PM's sometime if you have some good heavy death metal i might like.

I doubt you have heard all types of rap heck some of it shows more talent then most rock and metal bands.

Welcome to the boards!
Breaking Benjamin is actually not a bad band. I loved their cd Phobia.
I do have to admit that there are some rap songs that do have meaning. My sister likes rap, but mostly R&B, so she forces me to listen to some of them. It's not fair to generalize a genre.
Well anyways, enjoy your stay.

We don't judge by looks (unless someone is just pitiful) but we do judge by musical tastes.
We definitely don't consider gothic rock the best music ever, but it is, after all, what the subculture is about.
Anyway, I hate Cradle of Filth, but you're still welcome here.
I do have to tell you something: Egotistic solipsism is not welcome here. We argue a lot, and egotistic solipsism (such as your commentary of "all rap sucks to me even though I haven't heard all of it and that's all that matters because that's how I feel and I refuse to believe some rap groups might be better than most of my rock bands") is a dialectic dead end.
Just think of this; doesn't it annoy you when someone judges you without knowing you? It's just the same.

THAT'S what it's called? Awesome, so I managed to learn something today after all. Thank you for my daily lesson Jillian!

Heavy Metal or Death Metal that's good? I don't think such a thing exists, but if it did, a Goth forum probably isn't the best place to ask.

I know that I'm a jerk, I don't need to be told.

I doubt it, I just assigned an adverb to a noun.

Actually, Jillian, the adjective (that's what it is, not an adverb) is redundant, as solipsism is essentially egotistical by nature. It's like saying "the quadrapedal dog'. Either way, it's not the best philosophy for making friends.

I'd say it's egocentric, but not egotistical. Maybe they're the same, I don't know, but I use them as if they were different.
An egotist is someone that demands that the world revolve around him.
An egocentric is someone that believe the world already does.

gotism is the motivation to maintain and enhance favorable views of self to the point of being self-destructive. Egotism means thinking the world revolves around oneself, and believing one to be more important than what is actually the case.

It is closely related to narcissism, or "loving one's self," and the possible tendency to speak or write of oneself boastfully and at great length. Egotism may coexist with delusions of one's own importance, at the denial of others. This conceit is a character trait describing a person who acts to gain values in an amount excessively greater than that which he/she gives to others. Egotism is often accomplished by exploiting the altruism, irrationality and ignorance of others, as well as utilizing coercive force and/or fraud.

Egotism differs from both altruism, or acting to gain fewer values than are being given, and egoism, a determination to gain and give an equal amount or degree of values. Various forms of "empirical egoism" can be consistent with egotism, as long as the value of one's own self-benefit is entirely individual.
