Underappreciated Actors/Actresses

Brian Cox, he's one of my favorite actors. I think he's wonderful and awesome and needs more recognition.

British actor Jeremy Brett, who sadly passed away from heart failure in 1995, is best known for his Sherlock Holmes portrayals but he also has a long and varied history of stage, film, and television roles.

Here is a link to a sampling of one of his earliest performances in the film The Very Edge, in which he plays a young, mentally disturbed man who becomes obsessed with a housewife. Even at this relatively young age, his portrayal is very intense. That final caress to his victim's hair before he flees is particularly poignant.

I will probably think of others, but he was the first that came to mind.

My father just recently was in a broadway play with Martha Plimpton. She's really good.
And Crispin Glover is awesome in every sense of the word. What a strange and unique man.

I'd say the movie "HAROLD AND MAUDE" is underappreciated.

I agree that Crispin Glover needs more recognition and I'm not even a huge fan. I just know him as "creepy thin man".

I've only seen "Harold and Maude" once but I really liked it. The actor who plays Harold was so adorable in that film but now eek.

He's sort of a proto-proto-goth, eh?
And Brian Cox was great in "MANHUNTER". Great film, I think it's even better than "SILENCE OF THE LAMBS".

Weelll I like them both equally the same but I prefer Manhunter. But it's way better than Red Dragon. And about Hannibal Lector, I thought Cox was better than Hopkins. =x

Too many people don't know of Crispin Freeman, Hilary Haag, and Laura Chapman. I can understand why nobody in live action stuff knows them but almost no one in the anime scene knows them either D:

Voice actors count right?

Johnny Depp is underappreciated? When will you be satisfied with the praise that he receives; when he's crowned Master of the Universe?

You're an oddity, you are. Someone who can write, but can't read. Amazing.

Chloe is pretty cool. I started loving her since AP.
Michael Pitt is a good choice too, I didnt get to see Funny Games though because well I saw the original.

I would also add Parker Posey because she is hilarious! And Chiwetel Ejiofor, although he's starting to gain some recognition.

Fuck yeah. If they were going to ever replace a cast member in that series.. that was the best choice.

Gary Oldman (The Professional, The Fifth Element, Bram Stoker's Dracula) - The range and intensity of this actor has never really been appreciated. Even his relatively bland turn as Gordon in Batman Returns and The Dark Knight was better than most actors could ever hope for.

Chow-Yun Fat (The Killer, Hard Boiled, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) - Holy crap is this guy amazing. He is the sort of actor who can say more with a look and a small gesture than most actors can with a boat load of hammy over-acting. The epitome of the Tough Guy with a soul.

Lance Henriksen (Aliens, The Terminator, Near Dark) - This gravelly-voiced actor has done a ton of animated voice work, but he spent the 80s in some memorable roles. The 1990s saw him transition form film to television, where he shined as Frank Black in my all-time favorite television show, Millennium.
