Do Good Looking Shorts Exist?

It’s getting warm here in Southern California and I can barely tolerate it. By the end of the day I feel like I swimming in the Pacific except it’s in my pants. So the weather combined with how uncomfortable pants feel on a hot day is making me think of a alternative solution…shorts.

I know how most of you feel about them but surely there must be a nice pair of black shorts somewhere that both looks and feels good. Any suggestions?

TRIPP shorts are good. Granted, they are a cliche and highly stereotyped, but i have a pair of changable pants-to-shorts.... pants. And i love them. They zip. Just add some good bright socks and some combat boots you can't go wrong. =)

Yep pants to shorts are good, they let me show off my unbeleavably hairy legs (I am only 17 yet they are hairier than anyone's legs I know). If I were to wax them I would probobly rip all the skin off my legs.

Well...

You can try black slack shorts with miss matching colored knee high socks with some pointy black dress shoes and maybe a white poet shirt with a black vest over it. Also, you could make a spiderweb mesh sash to tie around your waist to give it a more... flamboyant look.

Or, you could take a pair of baggy 3/4 cargo pants and strap on a pair of docs...

As a temporary solution I went out and bought a pair today. There wasn’t that much in terms of good selection. Not that they look bad but being 30 and wearing some of those outfits at Hot Topic make me look very strange. I ended up finding a half-way decent pair that didn’t look too punk or too mall core. It’s a plain black pair of shorts that came with a belt and was only $25. Not bad.

WOW that sounds sexy.

I defiantly have the ruffled shirt and while my shoes not pointy would work (I could always save up and by a nice pair) I just don’t know how I would make or find a spiderweb mesh sash. Do you know of any places that sell them or any easy ways I could make one? I’m very clumsy in terms of sewing so it would have to be really simple.

Once again thank you all for helping me. I really appreciate it !

Well, you can check eBay. They had some purple spiderweb mesh fabric.

Basically, the idea goes like this... You take the fabric and make a simple "skirt" out of it and then lay it out flat and cut a triangle from about the top to the bottom to make it seem more asymetrecal. You can also mix this with black and purple stripped socks for added effect.

What about girl-shorts?

I want something comfortable that doesn't involve baring my whole ass or having a huge fucking cameltoe. Any ideas?

Personally, when the weather gets rough and it's whiskey in the shade, I don a heavy, black leather jacket, black leather pants, engineer boots and a harness setup festooned with odd metal tools.

No, wait. That's just Road Warrior.

I wear cargo shorts, because they hold all my crap. Foot wear is either lace up boots or sandals, depending on the terrain I'm traversing.

I wonder about this too. And I am rather hour-glass shaped, so I can't where tiny shorts (nor do I want to). I try to stick to lightweight cargos or skirts, but sometimes the humidity here is unbearable and that causes my legs to stick together & sweat. Ick.

Those don’t look half-bad. I’ll have to look around for it. Did you get that at Old Navy too?

(Blushes and smiles) lol how would you know that? I don’t even think I’ve shown pics of me yet where you can see my bare legs. BTW everybody that I met that says they have bad legs usually end up having a nice pair of gams.

In summer I find myself partial to black hotpants as an alternative to shorts (which I never wear anyway).

Why not wear a long black skirt? I think those look great on women.

I know this summer I was going to get myself a kilt but after seeing the prices I decided to get shorts.

Actually if any of you guys have any extra money I highly suggest going to http://www.utilikilts.com/ . The Kilts they have are both alluring and very sexy but sadly expensive.

Utilikilts are keen. I'm not a kilt person myself, but it's fun to see them on other guys.

I have several peasant skirts which I love dearly. They're quite functional in the summer. I just kind of wanted a pair of shorts, too... Mostly to go over a bathing suit, frankly.

Ha! Agreed. I saw a death rocker with those on and I was so tempted to flip it up even though he was wearing tights underneath.

Yes, they do. In my opinion, shorts can be tricky. They don't always look right, especially on the people that wear them-myself included! Then again, it's not always about the aesthetic; it's more about practicality. If you're lucky, you can have both!

Recently, I scored a pair of black velvet hotpants that cinch my waist. They remind me of Betty Page. I found them at a local vintage shop at a reasonable price. It was a happy day!

I've also found that bloomers work well as shorts. The fabric is light, so it breathes easier, and you can dye them if you like. They come in different lengths as well. The ones I have are really lacey.

I've got black knee-length combat shorts, which I got from a military surplus stall in Camden Market in London last year, swiftly measured and sold to me by a giant black Rasta guy smoking a joint. They're plain, dead comfy, and look not too embarrassing at all, specially when combined with my New Rocks.

I hate three-quarter-length shorts. They always just look like I tried to wear a pair of baggy trousers from the Kids' section.

Go to your local Forever 21 (though they are super cheaply made) and you'll find tons of knee length walking shorts. which I always wear in summer because they are very flattering for my shape and I REFUSE to wear those stupid ass short shorts that are pretty much underwear made out of jeans.
