Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.

Good "minimalist" piano music? [Erik Satie]

Well, here's the story...

I have 0 music history education beyond a community college music appreciation class... and I only discovered Erik Satie through his being mentioned in anther forum's discussion I found while trying to figure out the original composer for the Nintendo game, Shadowgate's OST (haha, yep. NERD).

It seems Erik Satie is very well-known, but, being clueless and uneducated, I'd literally never heard of him before that moment. I really love the stuff I have heard since though.

It's just...... good, simple music. It's not overly complicated or pretentious. It's melodic and emotive, frequently melancholic, and occasionally even a little bit eerie. I really like it a lot.

So, who are some comparable composers? Recommendable collected works?

I figure this is a reasonably good place to ask. Thanks.
