Bleach for the bathroom.
And face cream bleach by Sally Hanson (or is it Henson?) to your skin. Leave it on for about 10 minutes instead of just five. Of course, that's when using black dye. A coloured dye may only need the 5 minutes to bleach out.
Next time, use a black garbage bag before dying. They can be laid over your bathroom (sink, floor, toiler, whatever), and you can make three holes and wear one like a poncho before dying (so it doesn't get all over your chest or back).
As for preventing it from getting on your face next time...Well...I'm still having problems with that myself. I think I may try using lotion or something next time though.

Anything with a strong ethanol content (e.g. nail polish remover) will work to get rid of the stains from the skin and bathroom, but some dyes are so strong nothing but time will remove them. Bleach is also an option. And be warned that both ethanol and bleach are very damaging to the skin, so use with caution.

In future you can use vaseline on your forehead, neck and ears to keep the dye from staining.

For my own hair I avoid the problem altogether by using a semi-permanent black dye that doesn't stain the skin at all (*Insert fancy word for 'black' here* by Schwartzkopf Country Colours I think it is...).

Bummer.

Ok then.

Regular toothpaste.
Baking soda and liquid dish washing soap.
Cigarette ash and hand cream.
A facial astringent or something like Stridex.
A face scrub with the little gritty bits in it.
Lave soap. Do they even still make that stuff?

Basically anything with a mild abrasive.

I would kill to find a distributor here for a German hand cleaner my X-husband used to get when he was a mechanic. Took hair stain, greasy, anything yucky off your skina and left you feeling smoooooooooooth and soft.

Nail polish remover. You've no idea how many times that's helped me avoid my mother's fury.

My, that's what comes from just hitting the page down button... didn't realise you'd already replied to the answers and that the problem was solved. Ah well, whatever...

Steps on how to dye hair

1. Avoid using cheap $6.00 dye
2. Make sure you wear an old t-shirt that you don't care about
3. Apply vaseline on your forehead and ears
4. Wear latex gloves
5. Apply dye CAREFULLY to avoid splashing it around your bathroom and on your skin.
6. Once the dye has been applied, wipe any remainder dye off with left over dye and wait.
7. When rinsing, massage dye from your head on your skin as you rinse. This will help get rid of the staining.
8. If dye is still present, use an exfoliating scrub. If you have access to cigarette ash, that also helps.

I'd really avoid using household bleach and other chemicals of the like. They may do more harm than good.
