Greetings and Salutations
Greetings all.
I am a South African Goth from Pretoria. I currently work at an indie games company and have been in various local goth bands such as Disciples of Sorrow and Retinal Burn. I have just recently started an electro goth band named Hexotericka.
I watch a lot of anime, and you might even call me a closet otaku.
I enjoy the books of R.A. Salvatore, especially the Drizzt novels.
I'm a fan of most Tim Burton films.
As for my favorite band, currently I'm torn between The Birthday Massacre and Clan of Xymox.
My reason for joining? I've been looking for a good goth community to join for quite some time now, and this is definitely my first choice.

Hey - I'm also from Pretoria
If I may ask, where does your band perform?

Welcome to the boards!!
You have good taste. The Birthay Massacre are a good band and who doesn't like Tim Burton's movies?

Currently the new band has just started, so no gigs yet, but with Disciples of Sorrow we played regularly at Zeplins between 2001 and 2004.
††BlackRose††, thanks!

Damn, why haven't I gone there before? Actually I haven't gone there ever - only learned about Zeplins two months back or so.
The closest I've come to a club around Pretoria has been *gasp* Aandklas.
(that's not even a club, is it?)
*new to the music and not much of a clubber you see*
Anyway. I hope all goes well with your band

Hehehe @ Aandklas.
You should definitely make a turn a Zeps some time, even just once. It's a real cool place and quite an experience.
And thanks for the well-wishing for Hexotericka

Thank you PersephoneX! It's good to see there's quite a few people from SA on here. (All of a sudden I've got a craving for Iced Zoo. Haven't had any in years!)

korinna5555 - I'm a huge fan of Drizzt. As for the 2010 world cup, well, the guys working on the stadiums are planning strikes all over the country unless their demands are met. Heck, our country seems to be strike central.
PersephoneX - Yeah, I really need to get me a pack of those again!

Hopefully it won't actually come to that and all things will go ahead as planned for 2010.

My apologies - I don't mean to bring up politics in an intro thread - it's just that South Africa has some serious problems, crime probably the highest of all. There's no guarantee that the country will be safe to visit by then, probably, it'll be more dangerous, afterall, tourist=money.
Anyway, sorry, I'm hogging Darcnyss' thread. I'll post something on the topic in the politics board someday.

I started a thread on the wonderful state of S.A, you can go hunt it down...
We don't mean to scare people off, but things are going bad here. FAST.
