Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

"Lullabye" by Christian Death [featurring Rozz Williams]. It's actually the original version of "Infans Vexatio" [from the album "Insanus, Ultio, Proditio, Misericordiaque"]. The version with Valor on vocals sucks hella ass! That & he uses a completely different chorus which didn't flow with the song's music too well. Again, fuck Valor. Rozz will always be the man!

Bathory `Blood Fire Death`
Bathory is one of my all time favourite bands, classic black metal at its best.

That was such a wonderful movie. And the music from it was quite freakin' good.

Cex - Kill Me
The one-man electronica/industrial/hip-hop project of one Rjyan Kidwell. I'm thinking this might be what the young Trent Reznor would have sounded like if he was more of a hipster, took himself less seriously and could actually articulate his angst beyond the realm of the vague and misanthropic.

Always glad to be of service, my lovely Wolfie!
I'm serious, though. I like NIN up until "The Downward Spiral" period, and I think "The Fragile" had some interesting sounds on it, but now I think he's just pathetic. His lyrics are banal, the melodies predictable, and his vocals ridiculously limited, with that annoying, breathy ending on every single line. He's basically become a parody of himself.
Bah.
Currently listening to the awesome Japanese hardcore band Envy. Specifically, their album "A Dead Sinking Story", from 2003.

"Enemy Inside" by Social Construct. Hocico/Velvet Acid Christ/Wumpscut-style Anarcho-Industrial. [Even Pitseleh would appreciate this!]

That sucks, I only know a couple of songs from 'Downward Spiral'. I like 'Pretty Hate Machine', though. Especially Terrible Lie.

Hey! I love some of the lyrics on NIN's latest album! *pokes tongue out at pitseleh*
These ones are from "Right Where it Belongs":
What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you want it to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks?
Would you find yourself
Find yourself afraid to see?
What if all the world's inside of your head
Just creations of your own?
Your devils and your gods
All the living and the dead
And you're really all alone?
You can live in this illusion
You can choose to believe
You keep looking but you can't find the woods
While you're hiding in the trees

Hehehe... Yeah, those are actually not too bad. What irks me though, is his general self-centered and pessimistic perspective, which hasn't changed one iota since the first album. I mean, I know money doesn't necessarily make you happy, but I find it hard to take this kind of angst seriously when it comes from a rich, respected and well-fed middle-aged man. Plus I have read some interviews where he generally comes across as kind of bitter and narrow-minded, which put me off him a bit.
On topic, I'm currently listening to a rather enchanting blend of Japanese folk music and psychedelia -
Ayuo & Ohta Hiromi - One Step Further; from the "Red Moon" album.

From the album of the same name. Just had to add this, 'cause it's just so damn good!
